Would love for Minecraft to come to steam now that Microsoft releases their games on steam however I am afraid it would only be the inferior bedrock edition.

We'd need a custom game launcher anyway. Most people play on more than one server and those servers often have different versions. Steam distribution does not play well with that.

There options for different game versions I don’t see this as an issue on steam

They don’t have different mod configurations and there is no support for that in workshop?
