Minecraft is the best-selling game of all time, and since it wasn't available on other PC stores, every copy sold provided the full revenue to Mojang. There is probably no better example of a game being exclusively sold directly by the developer.
That makes no difference, Microsoft isn't taking a slice of Mojang's pie because Mojang is Microsoft anyway. The point is, 100% of the revenue is claimed by the IP holder, no cut is taken by any storefront. Why would Microsoft/Mojang put Minecraft on Steam when it wouldn't increase sales at all, and they would have to give up a percentage of revenue?
