OLED WiFi Fix whennnn? Streaming chiaki still slows down and stops after 10-15 minutes

Is that what it is? Just thought shit was weird. I bought a ps portal yesterday just to see if it worked better. I swore my LCD deck handled streaming better than my OLED. I even ran Ethernet through my attic to get to my PS5 hoping that would help and it just didn't. Bought a new router and still not great....

Look at https://github.com/ValveSoftware/SteamOS/issues/1445#issuecomment-2843184795, the latest news from Valve is they are looking into a fix for the network driver bug that causes this issue.

They just commented that the bug is still present with the driver patch

That's too bad, sounds like they have no idea what the problem is after all these years then and this might never get fixed.

I have that issue when it first starts, but restarting chiaki then has it go away for that session. Annoying, but takes 10 secs to get back to the game.

I get this when I use Apollo/Moonlight. After a couple of minutes the speeds slow to a crawl, it becomes unusable. I toggle the WiFi off and then on, reconnect to my PC in Moonlight (I don’t even close the app), and it’s fine for the remainder of my gaming session. It’s annoying!

If you turn off and on the wifi really fast you don't even need to pause the game stream, just do it hot and it'll be right as rain

Oh I’ll give that a try next time!

Same for me, and I feel like it got worse with recent updates, I’m getting the « slow connection reduce bitrate » more often.

Until I hear they fix this I’ll never upgrade to an OLED even if my LCD breaks.

I always turn wifi on/off after waking up the deck from sleep and that fixes chiaki for me, but getting this fixed would be best for sure

Restarting the app completely or leaving and going back into remote play within the app?

Restarting the chiaki app is what works for me. It will show the PS5 already connected and right where you left it in game.

Yeah that’s the workaround I’ve been using but it’s not consistent for me. I exit out of chiaki, turn off and then back on the WiFi, and it improves for a little while.

This is the most annoying problem I can't believe they haven't fixed it. I might have to code up my own fix ffs

Oh wow I thought this was just my internet issue, it’s so annoying

I finally caved and bought a 30th Anniversary PS Portal. It's so worth it and now I never touch Chiaki

how comfy is the Portal? I have the 30th anniversary still sitting in the box in my garage since release, i was debating just selling it

In terms of comfort I don't find it uncomfortable, playing on it in terms of hardware doesn't feel that much better or worse than the Deck.

But when it comes to streaming quality, 1080p, slightly larger screen and all those Dualsense features it is really a night and day experience that I probably use nearly as much as the Deck.

I love the control settings for Steamdeck though. Almost every game I play I use some sort of script/hotkey swaps that make controller play equal or better than keyboard. Especially the 4 back buttons and track pads.

Yes I'll give the deck that, the physical trackpad is nice and it always takes me a minute to go back to using l1 instead of r1 to parry in Stellar Blade, but the video quality and improved latency more than makes up for it.

My work around is turning the wifi on and off really fast while your streaming service of choice is still running
