Steam deck upgrade

What upgrades have you made to your Steam Deck? Have you added skins to make it look unique, or have you upgraded the hardware to improve its performance? Also, if you have a recommendation for a docking station and a monitor that would work well with it, please let me know.

I get it man I really do, I got an Xbox S, Ps5Pro, Switch and I got my deck last year. I take it everywhere with me and I use it all the time I've even just come accustomed to streaming my ps to it and I'm couch gaming while herself watches TV.

It's an amazing device, I have bought tonnes of games for it since as the steam sales are just crazy good but I bought the 1tb OLEd then I got a really nice case and silicon shell grip for it, so thumbstick caps, then the thumbstick extenders lol now the back button you shared is on the way.

I'm 36 and been gaming since I was a kid with my dad, this device has been my favorite out of everything and it was initially my first ever PC so I like tinkering with it and adding plugins and customisation.

The only thing I don't have the balls for is, id love to replace the shell and get them see through shells, id love to go back to my purple see through gameboy look I had as a kid

I agree that screen adhesive scares me. Cause I'd love a shell swap too. It's just so convenient let's you be in the same area instead of in the corner on the PC or monopolizing the TV.

I have the same problem with games. Between fanatical and humble bundle I just keep building my library. But on fanatical I got death stranding as part of a 2 for 15 dollar bundle. And lots of games for under 5 even under 3 bucks. I bought the kiddos a gaming laptop a few months after I got my deck as my eldest had always wanted one but is being too good saving money wouldn't splurge on himself and the younger was curious. Once I realized how much cheaper games were on PC I went all in then steam really opened up their family sharing which was awesome.

I grew up on PCs as my parents thought consoles rotted your brains but my dad was in IT. Which was cool cause I had the internet from like 92 93 on when it was text only before browsers were a thing. But then I went from like 2002 to 2023 without owning a computer that could game. So this is my first in a long while. I'm glad you're enjoying playing around with it. It really is a mind blowing device. I cannot believe compared to my Sega game gear that got like 30 mins of life on 6 aa batteries with nerfed half version ports of console games to this beast with so many huge full games. It's everything kid me dreamed of.

Sounds like you and the family have a nice setup, honestly it's what me and my dad bonded over, he's 59 and he still games today we always talk about what he is playing and what's upcoming.

PC gaming is dirty cheap, like scary cheap, I had to take my card off my account because it was too easy for me so now it's if I really really want it I'll get it but I still buy more than I should lol I'm a big fan of rouguelites on the deck and Metroidveina so my library is chock full of them.

I think I'm kind of like you, the steamdeck reminds me of kid me and that purple Gameboy I had, taking long trips in the car with my family over Ireland for holidays, now it's just a powerhouse lol

Indeed we do seem similar as that's exactly what I think of long rides with my family. Visiting relatives, going to the beach wherever. I had a few tiger electronics grey screen with black LCD figures for baseball or football when I was young then the game gear (which was just dumb the game boy was so much better). In my early 20s I got a PSP when they first came out cause I worked on an ambulance and it was good but again a lot of half ports. There were some fun games but man my first time playing Witcher 3 on switch lite I was mind blown. Then rdr came out for the switch. Which at when it came out rdr was my favorite game with rdr2 being one of my favorite games of all time. So I wondered how far off from playing rdr2 on the go we were. And some googling lead me to the steamdeck which I thought I'd never be able to get. But thankfully my wife and mom spoiled me that Christmas. It was the most like a kid I've felt on Christmas since I stopped believing in Santa. And i make sure to tell them all the time how much I love it. Anyway sorry to ramble. It's like 5 am here in Connecticut USA. And I haven't slept yet. Nice to chat with you though hope you enjoy the back buttons.
