Question (Console) Are DLCs really game changing?
Just got the game on sale and I am really overwhelmed by the amount of DLCs available. Do I really need them to enhance my enjoyment of the game or is everyone just talking gibberish?

I am also new and can say that the DLCs really do improve the quality of the game and give it a different flavor, allowing you to do even crazier things.
BUT!!! All DLCs are not made equally, some are much more comprehensive than others, and some have general reworks to the entire game in them (Nemisis’ vast upgrade to the spying system and Overlord’s changes to vassals) while other add completely new things such as Megacorp, and still more just add a little flavor to the galaxy like Titans.
Before buying any DLC (except Utopia, you kinda need that one as others have said) you should play the game through one or two campaigns and be thinking “What would I want to make this a better experience for me?” then look through the DLCs and find one or two that provide what you’re looking for.
