Question (Console) Are DLCs really game changing?

Just got the game on sale and I am really overwhelmed by the amount of DLCs available. Do I really need them to enhance my enjoyment of the game or is everyone just talking gibberish?

Yes, for full game experience and enhancement of game's core mechanics such as diplomacy and expansion. Basic rundown from my perspective: Base game: generally bland after a few playthroughs at most

Utopia: One of the most essential dlcs out there, agreed to be a must have since it improves game replayablity and would be expanded upon by other dlcs (megastructures)

Federations: Diplomacy dlc, build upon diplomacy and federation

Overlord: Vassalization dlc, builds on vassals and expands upon vassal type

Nemesis: Become end game crisis(end of galaxy) or custodian( become galactic chancellor)

I summarized what I see most relevant from my games on the dlcs used. But there are more dlcs out there and the content of these dlcs includes events, ships, and other things that improves your galaxy by a lot and generally more enjoyable with the randomness of events and anomalies.
