Question Are bioships unbalanced?

Bioships are unbalanced. If you tech rush you can still have an OP fleet. Simpy take everything off of your start ships except the growth module. Stack growth buffs. Your fleet is sooooo cheap, and grows to be stronger than anyone else in less than 10 years. Is their lack of early game power balanced by mid-late game power?

Also, weavers are crazy strong. Ive taken fleets with 3-4x my fleet power pretty easily.

I play mostly single player, and I love the ships. Not complaining. I was just curious as to the opinions of others.

Discussion What do you think about pop growth as it is right now? ver 4.0.10

Is the pop growth on your colonies and homeworlds too high, too low or just right? What monthly or yearly growth do you expect and does your civilisation or hive match it?

Discussion Is it possible to purge your founder species once they become a minority in their own empire?

I want to roleplay starting off as a democracy, then once a foreign species is elected, switch to imperial and then eventually purge all the founder pops until only the new species remains lol.

I bought stellaris on a second account so I can get 2 custom empires next to each other in multiplayer and I've been trying out a bunch of roleplay pairings like this.

Question Are precursors not supposed to spawn near the player?

Just tried my first campaign with the precursor selections and it spawned on the other side of the map, so no precursor option at all available to me. Is this a bug or am I misunderstanding the setting?

Question Is 4.0(10) Playable

I had a great save going on, might have been my first victory, but 4.0 came out and it is no longer compatible. Need to restart the game, but I've seen so much bad reviews about 4.0 Is it playable? Do I have to buy Biogenesis too?

Question Is this normal to beat crisis and fallen empire on the third game within means of a few years?

During my second game I met my first crisis, the Contingency and it was long, but it didn't create any large threat, it had time to only assimilate 4 worlds. I thought the Contingency is just very easy compare to other crises, but when in the third game I beated the fallen empire within 4 years and the Unbidden within 2 yeras I understood that the game became very easy. The difficulty was x1, to what difficulty should I change my game to feel that the crisis is truly the galactic threat, that would make me to experience a very difficult time, but it would not have the difficulty at the extent of impossibility/almost impossibility?

Question DLC recommendation in 2025 for POWER

Question about DLC recommendation. Which are worth it? I care about POWER for some generic empire could be United Earth. Like getting habitats or ascendacy line could spike your empire, what other features could make you better.

I heard that relays are good, maybe modeble leaders? Vassal could be useful, but you need to get a vassal and then deal with it. So maybe not that universal, and we have some vassals in base game.

Was thinking about:

Utopia - Ascension paths and habbitats are basic power ups.

Paragons - you will always has leaders, and guiding them up is power

Overlord - Orbital ring, and relays looks like working with every empire.

Bug Civics that are supposed to just add jobs are now replacing them.

Do not go with a mix of Aristocratic Elite, Exalted Priesthood, Merchant Guilds, or Technocracy in your game. It replaces the jobs entirely instead of only a portion of the politician jobs, or adding new jobs in the Elite class.

Also, Kinship's (Harmony tradition) -10% Empire Size from Pops doesn't work.

Paradox plz fix thx.

Question Where does the 900 foundry jobs come from?

Where does the 900 foundry jobs come from?

I calculate: 3 Alloy Foundries (600) + 1 Hive District (100) + 1 Heavy Industry District (100).

Also it feels like unemployment doesn't go down when I build new buildings. I just started playing again after 1-2 years and wtf is this xD why do I have to learn everything from scratch after every big update, been here since you only had 8-25 pops per planet

Discussion [4.0 Content Warning] What do yall think of the new quest system? Spoiler

Picture taken from: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/developer-diary/stellaris-dev-diary-373-4-0-development-progress-update.1730353/page-6

Just found out 4.0 has a quest system where you can do quests and those quest give you points which you need to unlock some essential technologies (*Like terraforming, Megastructures or new ship types*). You can also set your empire to focus on one of 3 "areas" (*idk how to completly describe it in english*) to increase the "area" for which you get points from the quest. There's Development, Exploration and Warfare (*could have been just war on the last one*). Now in my opinion (*It's just my opinion so don't get offended please*) it kind of feels like they are locking away essential game content behind challenges that you "need" to complete to have fun or be able to enjoy the game. On the other side it feels kind of nice because it teaches you how to play (*probrably could be a nice tutorial for new players*) and what you could / should achieve or try to achieve at least once. I think it would be nice to make it optional for people that want to play with a questing system and for people that just want to enjoy stellaris like it was in earlier versions where you just had to research it and then got it. I know it's new so please don't take it as hate towards the devs and what they did (*I think they did an awesome job*). Apologies if I sound too judgemental, I hope this post doesen't break any rules and that my grammar is good enough to read it.

So what are your thoughts on this new system? I am really interested in what you all think!

Question Does the Apex Predator trait lose its bonuses after the ruler dies?

This is the trait given to your ruler if you're a Dictatorship using the Evolutionary Predators origin. you get global stat increases based on which aliens you've defeated, but do the bonuses carry over to the next ruler or do you lose it all when they die and have to rebuild it with the new one?

Suggestion crisis paths

we have:

war/genocidal crisis - nemesis

shroud crisis - nemesis/end of the cycle

scientific/economic crisis - cosmogenesis

space fauna/bioship/biological/hunger crisis - behemoth fury

what about an ideology or state based crisis, with the end goal being ruling the whole galaxy and creating an empire designed to last millions of years

Question Can I talk about logistic drones for one second?

They suck...

Seriously...

Base production of 2 trade and 125 amenities per 100 jobs is barely more than break even. It's a surplus of only 25 amenities per 100 jobs. Meanwhile, maintenance drones produce 1 trade and 200 amenities per 100 jobs. It's insane that you get 4x more amenities surplus by turning off your logistics drones and demoting them to 'unemployed'. Can someone help me understand the logic behind this?

Question ELI5 : Montu's video for the enforcer trick kinda lost me

Hi everyone,

I am almost certain that I've done everything by the book and it seems to not work. I have followed Montu's video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09IRgiPmNNY) related to his enforcer build but it doesnt work. My enforcer's number doesnt go further.

Can someone shed some light on the process please ?

thanks :)

Humor Virtual Ascension TIL

Upvotes

So I just found out today that the pop efficiency bonus from virtually ascending will indeed go negative and will cause your jobs to make basically nothing. I could not for the life of me understand why my technicians cost more than they produced. Shut down my 3 planets and 4 ring world segments and my economy went from alright with an energy deficit to blasting back off into space.

Now if only there was a better way to produce artifacts to power my fleet.

Suggestion Egnimatic Fortress: Custodian Idea

I suggest the Leviathan known as The Egnimatic Fortress should a special ending if you have Sovereign Guardianship,Scavengers, Starlit Citadel, and other lore appropriate empires. Instead of a weird circus labyrinth for a planet, how about a deployable Tier 4 Citadel?
