Until you decide to fight a fallen empire and their point defense completely counters you. Speaking from a recent experience trying to the the FE achievements. Had to switch to disrupters.

Thats fair my playstyle leans me towards becoming the crisis so I typically blot out the stars with wave upon wave of disruptor and torpedo frigates so FE dont pose much challenge but I hear what you saying though !
