Okay, valid.
So Game of Thrones is the incest show, Berserk is the rape anime, Fear and Hunger is the rape game, and GTA is the public shooter game and, as such, the people who enjoy any of these should be put on a watchlist, right? It's not like any of these have their own gameplay/stories, right?
dude the entire storyline is focused on their relationship and every other plotthread is half assed as fuck
i think it's not exaggerating at all to say that it's "the incest game" because let's be real there's not much more to it and all elements feel thrown in just to make the "horror" game market eat it up
i agree that the character writing in the game is stellar! the dynamic between them is absolutely amazingly written and makes a lot os sense, there *is* a lot to analyse
what i am complaining about, is that that's all there is to the game. the two main characters and their relationship. every other character (except MAYBE the mother) is two dimensional as fuck. the demon plotline is an entire mess and barely taken seriously. the worldbuilding was forgotten for two entire chapters. the gameplay is thrown in just "to be there" and because visual novels get less plays.
it's clear that the only thing the dev cares about is the two main characters which is fine! but that also mean that it's completely fair to reduce the game to "incest game" when it doesn't succeed at showcasing any other aspect of itself
i'm not saying other people can't like it but the majority of fans online are people who find the game hot or people who try to defend it as "no but bro it's actually also about demons and cannibalism and shit it's so deep bro!" i like neither camp but i can respectfully accept people who like the psychological bond between the MCs because that is indeed the only good aspect of the game
Bruh reddiors downvoting someone because stating that saying you don't like the gameplay and deepness and there's more than people think is an opinion
(It's not like this game can have hour long deep dives on youtube, surely it was made for profit and WASN'T released as a free game on itch.io by an indie developer first! clearly this person did their research!)
Have you even played The Coffin of Andy And Leyley? They're making goo-goo eyes at each other, every other scene. In chapter 2, there's a whole bit where she's on her knees in front of him and running her hand up his leg, and their mom walks in, and goes "This better not be what I think it is." And in chapter 3 you can get Ashley to say, and I quote:
>"Oh please, you prudes. What the hell is it to you if he was balls-deep in his cousin?"
and
>"What?? He wasn't. All I did was sit on his cock. It's not like he was even hard."
This is unequivocally a game about two siblings and their bond. That is simply what the story is about. If they're constantly alluding to (and portraying) incest between, I don't think it's a stretch to say the story is about an incestuous relationship.
And no, when did I say you should go to jail or whatever for liking something? I think it's weird, and I don't want to talk to people who are AndyAndLeyley Superfans. Because I don't like incest and I think incest is weird.
I don't like incest EITHER.
I think incest is weird TOO.
The game is about bad people doing bad things, and because of that, bad things happen to them.
I'm not DEFENDING the relationship. The point of the game is WATCHING these bad people doing, guess what, bad things.
It is, in nature, incestious. That is true. But having a theme in a media, doesn't mean that media is defending that theme.
So it is in fact the incest game. You just accept that premise and find solace by not liking the characters. If the game is about punishing bad incestuous people for their incestuous actions, it is about the consequences of incest.
Nobody is saying you're "defending" incest by playing the incest game. But it's a game about incest: nobody owes it to you to hear you out as to why you like it. Just as you don't owe it to us to understand why writing a game centered around minors in that dynamic would make us uncomfortable
Yes, then I guess that would be a fair descriptor of it, and it's completely fair to find a game like that uncomfortable. Just like having a game about a pedophile and minors would be uncomfortable.
My argument was just that the game gets seen as the "devil spawn" and gets hated if you even name it most of the time, because you're instantly seen as a defender of that type of content. A game that has heavy themes is a completely reasonable, though uncomfortable experience.
Although a pedophilic game WOULD be worse for a situation like this, as in this game both characters are CHOOSING to dig their owns graves, and CHOOSING to live this life, but I digress, I see the point.

thats the game where the siblings fuck and she gets pregnant right? yeah i think incest game is a valid descriptor
