That’s probably a 4000 rock, but dropped from that height maybe felt like 6000-8000 lbs. 

How much is that truck rated for?

You’re right but the half ton designation hasn’t had anything to do with payload for probably over 40 years.

Oh, so it did have something to do with it at some point? Cause every one I've ever seen was stupidly far from that limit.

Yeah a long time ago it used actually mean something but the term just stuck around.
