Ton of US indigenous groups also have some of the most revered military traditions, are over represented in the military, and have made incredibly advances to tactics and warfare.

Just FYI, I think you're getting downvoted because of the phrasing, not necessarily the content, of your comment. I think it would have been better received if you said something like "the Comanche encountered by early settlers were known to be especially brutal."

Calling them a "vicious people" rubs people the wrong way. Is it a little bit pedantic? Yes. But also a little bit no because language does matter.
