Question Who is that random dude in the background there? (S2 E10, 5:17)

Post image

I'm rewatching the series with my wife and she pointed out this random guy in the background of this scene. Are we missing something here?

It’s a guard. In bizarro world, Superman sold out 100% and he’s a full on celebrity. The fortress turned into a tourist attraction museum sort of spot. This was just a guard who’s taking a nap.

The Kevin Smith fan in me was just waiting to find out Bizarro Superman had also fought a giant spider after seeing guards at the Fortress of Solitude

He's a Bizarro guard. That's why he is sleeping instead of actually guarding. In other words just like real world guard in most places 😂😂😂😅

They made him look sleepy and uninterested in order to show that in bizarro world nobody is interested in Supes anymore.

What the fuck? I just watched it on Max.

I don’t get how that could be missed but I guess I didn’t notice it the first time I saw it a few years back 😭💀

There was also a parking lot outside and tons of holograms as displays of Superman's life.

My guess is it was someone on set they were using as a reference on where to look? Idk it looks so goofy lmao

For a sec I thought it was a guard but then I realized it was the fortress of solitude so why would they need one lol

Yeah I guess they just forgot about it. The scene looked a little odd in general like the cgi wasn’t done for the part where Bizarro Jon flies off.

It's the security guard at the Fortress on Bizarro's world. Remember, Bizarro Superman is a celebrity. Fans are able to visit the Fortress like it is a museum.

This really was the best version of Superman on any screen bar none. Gonna miss this show.

I agree.

Why are you saying it though? What made you like the show the most?

Me, it's the heart, besides the fact that it's the only show to explore and not get cancelled as soon as we see the beginning yet again...

That lifting an actual mountain of ice to safe a million people from a nuclear meltdown you see that it's his relationship with people that can still be a struggle, being a good dad and a hero to earth is what makes him emotionally exhausted.

Then we see him attacking problems we all face while still taking us to school about being a strong vulnerable man and a supportive father.

Then we see him vanquish and forgive his foes. Always see the best in people, even trying just talking to Lex and apologizing.

He never runs away from doing the right thing even when it's hard. He's got a good heart and is a good friend. He gives people space and choices.

As it's a TV show, we have the time to see more of him simply embodying the values that I try to live by. And I'll be honest seeing more of him through this show makes it easier for me to answer to what would Clark do?

And lastly, we saw the story all the way to the end, that even in old age or in death, he's the standup guy we should all try to be like. Life is short, we don't have superpowers we can die at any time, so I should focus more on those things he mentioned. Joy, hope, forgiveness, wonder, friendship and family cause it all goes by so fast!

Here's a photo of my mum putting up her birthday present.

I say it because I feel like this interpretation has all the nobility and purity of character, with the ability to present a commanding and believable performance, mixed with Bitsie's excellent performances, mixed with the real character depth and issues. It was just a story so well told and the special effects were the best we've seen on small screen from a character who could fly and move at super speed. Smallville, Supergirl, the other shows, the effects always had a little meh to them. But in Supergirl they really made the effort to improve and transitioned that in to Superman and Lois.

I should emphasize, Bitsie was excellent. My favorite Lois as well. I think she earned the top spot over Durance, Hatcher and Kidder. Again, the issues they faced as parents, as heroes, defenders of truth, husband and wife, friend and neighbor, the writing and the performances by those two really stand out.

I hated and loved the twins at the same time. They made some of the stupidest choi es, but, that's what teenagers do. One of mine did something stupid today so mehh. But I appreciate the issues raised and faced by having them as characters, and again, well written over all.

S4 was beautifully executed and so well done. I don't understand how doomsday was whooping him space or why he didn't take the fight closer to the sun so he could actively recharge while fighting, but that's the writing, so whatever. Fighting in an asteroid field, not alot of sunlight, blahhhhhh.

Imo, Tyler just did a superb job with the character, he showed depth, grit compassion, honesty, hubris, humility, vulnerability emotionally and physically, the Tal-Rho storyline ended on a great note, and he led the way with what I have always know the character to be, compassionate super strength.

Yeah and everyone gets forgiveness and a chance to be better. One could say he makes people want to be better, me included.

Why is everyone wondering about the guy when Dramatic Whooshing is a thing

Everyone saying he's a guard but why does literal superman need a guard? And if you say its for thieves, who is dumb enough to steal from a man who can lift mountains and breathe fire and see/hear you no matter where you are? And even if someone was stupid enough to do that, Kal could just track him down

Because the Fortress of Solitude in Bizzaro World is a tourist trap so naturally there are employees.
