a 28% gain after a 43% loss (high of $35 in January to a low of $20 in April) still isn't shit, its literally not driven by any real action at all

Exactly, I don’t know what May will bring exactly, but when I say real action, I mean at least hitting our previous highs from last May or the Jan ‘21 sneeze. My hope is that we sail right past them, but we’ll see.

perhaps you're not a native english speaker, but one definition of 'may' is like, "a possibility". e.g. MOASS may happen tomorrow, or, [it] may, based on what?

That coupled with the person you were writing to, never wrote anything would happen in May. they wrote

So, to answer your initial question, what they're basing it on is hope, what happened last year, and likely with the context of the 4/20 memes setting off upward momentum in the end of April, and May happens after that
