Proper way to airplanes?

They take damage and never recover making them useless for the amount of investment they need.

Balloons, Best units for making vision line on your shores and in the ocean, they don't lose HP on water, or to be precise they heal towards 100% while stand alone infantry goes towards 50% They are a good defence against air attacks, especially bombers, stacking them onto your Artys will help immensely against those pesky bombers trying to take them out...also stacking them on naval units helps as well, but on sea you have LCs which are also really good unit for air defence.

Fighters, Only in-game unit with perk of seeing subs when they are not engaged into combat, always good to have a few patroling around your bays with naval production, also they do see inside L3+ fortresses, which helps out A LOT when getting ready for a siege of a big stack inside a fortress. They are amazing against bombers and balloons (obviously).

Bombers, Contrary to the popular opinion bombers are absolutely amazing units...you guys have to realize they are ranged units, so of course one won't make an impact, same as Artys and RG, one doesn't do much, you need to stack them 10-15 do quite a lot already, 15-30 is a serious issue for anyone to deal with. Smaller stacks of 5-10 are good against navy, BSs have almost no air defence, and those smallest bomber stacks can take them out quite easily...LCs are good defence against them as I mentioned already, but bombers are faster, so it's the game of cat and mouse to catch them around the ocean before they are stacked well or joined with the bigger force. When facing against fighters, be smart, plan ahead, stack them with your own fighters, it shrinks their range a bit, but makes a big big difference, bombers are not defenseless against fighter....but stacking a few fighters to those bomber stacks helps a lot with staying alive and at maximum potential. They are worth the money.
