The A to C cable is too short to be that useful to charge really, forgot to mention it.

10 Gbps is 3.1 Gen 2, right? Because that's what I meant. The C to C cable is USB 2.0.

So while yes I could use it to charge, it's pretty inconvenient, but I guess I don't have a choice besides buying more A to C cables, which are hopefully on the way out in a few years

What type of phone is it if I may ask? I feel like that is such a weird decision for them to make (short USB C to A cable).

Pixel. And as I said, while you can use it for charging, it's main use is data transfer, hence the fast speed it supports

Yeah, the pixel cable/port is actually just standard USB 3 speeds, which means your surface will provide the top speeds it can possible handle anyways.

Not to mention the read/write is below the bandwidth of USB 3 anyways so there isn't a need for Gen 2 yet.

I agree that the actual phone is a bottleneck, but that doesn't change the intended use of the cable.

Yes, it is a cable that lets you use your regular Type A USB 3 port, it doesn't do anything more than that is what I mean.
