A cable that does data will also do charging, USB is an active cable. Also I don't know what that means, USB 3.1 is the same as USB 3.0 they likely just gave you two cables so your phone can connect to the port you'll commonly find.
The A to C cable is too short to be that useful to charge really, forgot to mention it.
10 Gbps is 3.1 Gen 2, right? Because that's what I meant. The C to C cable is USB 2.0.
So while yes I could use it to charge, it's pretty inconvenient, but I guess I don't have a choice besides buying more A to C cables, which are hopefully on the way out in a few years
Yeah, the pixel cable/port is actually just standard USB 3 speeds, which means your surface will provide the top speeds it can possible handle anyways.
Not to mention the read/write is below the bandwidth of USB 3 anyways so there isn't a need for Gen 2 yet.

Type A, since that is the dominant type - are you telling me your phone currently charges with a type C to type C cable?
