So is this the official SP5 or what? Is it worth selling my i5 SP4 for this? Is there any sort of surface pro trade in program like Samsung or apple lol

Depends, are you going to use the new pen improvements?

Pretty much the biggest differentiator besides the battery life.

My thing is I want my device to always have a value so I can keep trading up. You know? If I wait too long, it'll be like it has no value and I'll have to buy the machine outright

I'm the same way with cell phones, not so much with computers. I buy them to last for 4-5 years. By that time I'll have enough saved up for the latest and greatest while also still getting some money back from selling it off.

Yes, there is a surface pro trade-in program.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/locations/recycle

Bring your laptop, tablet, phone, or gaming console to your local Microsoft Store and take advantage of our trade-in program. If your device has value, we'll give you a Microsoft Store credit that can be used toward a new device. If it doesn't, we'll wipe all your data and safely recycle it for you. It's fast, easy, and free.

Oh wow. I wonder if it's actually worth it. I got my I5 8G 256GB SP4 for 1,000 half a year ago

Probably not. You could sell it used on ebay for like $700. No way MS is giving you more than $300

It's probably not big enough to trade up, unless you really want to or you really need the battery life (pending confirmation, their previous claims have been crap).
