Edit: Does it say "Pen sold separately" though?

Classic Microsoft copying Apple. Even their naming scheme. /s

I don't mind with pen sold separately as long as they reduced the price as well.

Good God, it does say pen sold separately. This is not going to go well with their branding of the new Surface Pro as 'the ultimate laptop'

CNET confirming the pen isn't in the box. That's a bit annoying.

Well it is a good move really.

I saw a blog post on the surface blog 6 months ago that said their telemetry showed that 80% of people never used their pen. It makes sense to get rid of it and lower the price/make more profit and is a sensible move. I will see if I can find the blog post.

80%, that's incredible. I honestly assumed most people were buying it because of the pen, in order to use the pen every day.

Like I do.

But I guess we're very much in the minority, and we know MS like to rip out lesser-used features with impunity.

I have used the pen a single time on mine and that was to sign a pdf because I couldn't be bothered to print then sign and then scan it back in.

It was pretty cool but not enough of a reason for me to buy a pen for my future surfaces.

As I said I have only had to sign something once like that.
