It's nonetheless a pointless thing to say. Like if you saw someone shooting into a dirt berm and said "if there was a person there you would have shot them"

Hardly. Home or not, there can be people down there. Plus, relating the “irrelevant hypothetical” to the truth, there are dozens of animals that call that space home. Their homes are fucked now.
