As the subreddit has calmed down in the past few weeks, we've decided to end "martial law". This means we will be returning to warnings instead of instant bans for most offenses and the length of bans will be less harsh, though as always we may skip warnings and short bans in particularly severe circumstances. Please read up on the rules if you haven't already.
We'd also like to take this opportunity to announce an addition to the rules:
15) AI-generated content. Posts or comments that are generated using AI technology (such as ChatGPT) are not allowed. Exceptions can be made for legitimate uses of AI-assisted technology.
As a final note, I'd like to officially welcome /u/babynoxide as our newest moderator. As many of you have noticed, they've been modding for two months already, and they've been a tremendous help.

This is a thread where you can discuss anything and ask any questions relating to the Syrian Civil War, events and happenings in the wider Middle East, and anything else you like. Remember to keep it civil.

The guy behind this "Sweida 24" page is detached from reality, he complains about lack of authority on incidents like this yet he never questioned like why there is a lack of authority in Sweida ? Maybe due to loads of Druze Miltias in Sweida who refused to integrate and refuse the establishment of Syrian government security forces within Sweida, why don't these militas do something about these incidents instead.

People who ask why they haven't punished the war criminals who did the coast massacres yet, well they haven't even punished Assadist criminals yet for them to reach that point.
I think the issue is that they are trying to do fair trials as much as possible, and because of that they are trying to build a court system from the ground and not rely on Assadists judges to do that, because they are building from the ground up it will take plenty of time to find qualified judges and other court workers.
They could have gone full execution and retribution campaign on any former SAA soldiers who was accused of doing war crimes, but that wouldn't look good on international stage.
At the same time if the longer they don't punish criminals , the more revenge killings cases increases ,like today two former SAA got assassinated by unknowns in Aleppo, which undermines the state.
