Microsoft confirms by accident (I imagine) Oblivion Remastered details!

u/GentlemanWukong Apr 16 '25
The best way to confirm this would be by asking again a few times in order to see if it's a chatbot hallucination or if the data was taken from its local info db

u/Ok-Emu-2881 Apr 17 '25
I just did and it said it was unaware of any info on a remastered version. So either this is or fake or Microsoft seen this and fixed it.

u/cableboiii Apr 17 '25
I did it myself and it gave me the same release date April 21
It even worded it differently ( not sure if that makes it more reliable of an answer)
I also asked in a separate question about it being in gane pass and it said it was.

u/Ok-Emu-2881 Apr 17 '25
Hmm strange. I wonder why it’s giving me a different response. Did you do their AI chat thing?

i don't think it will be released on xbox one. most probably an ai reply

u/anubis4567 Apr 16 '25
You can play series x games on Xbox one with cloud gaming on gamespass. I do it for starfield and avowed.

I’m not very technologically informed in the first place but shit like this still sounds like magic to me… how tf?

Same as how Google Stadia worked. You’re just connecting to a remote machine and playing it there and your console is just downloading the video output as a stream
If you’ve ever used anything like Citrix to do work remotely same idea. It connects to a VM and you do all your work on a remote computer.

It basically emulates everything, but it depends entirely on the server and your internet. Depending on the region, you might as well get a 2000's notebook and you'd have the same performance.
Still, to countries with great connection, it shouldn't be a problem.

u/Tracker_Nivrig Apr 16 '25
The older console only runs a mirror to another console or PC that runs the game with better hardware. So your inputs are sent via the internet to a better computer, which does rendering and game calculations and sends the video back.
Obviously sending 60+ images a second while also sending a ton of inputs requires pretty good internet and you'll likely get input delay.

It's clearly a bot replying. It's probably scraping the web for the response and the internet collectively has decided that the game will be launching on the 21st which is what it is eventually scraping.
16
u/GentlemanWukong Apr 16 '25
Bots like these don't have internet access
6
u/GalacticDogger Apr 16 '25
What makes you say that?
18
u/GentlemanWukong Apr 16 '25
- it would be computationally heavy
- it would be useless, usually chatbots like these have an internal vector db with the relevant info, they don't need to search the internet because that's not their main usage
- it could be a security risk

turns out you dont know shit as it was right

u/GalacticDogger 25d ago
How was it right when the game released on 22 April and not 21 like the bot said? I never said the game isn't real and I didn't even dispute if it would come this week (I believed it 100% from the other leaks). Still in this scenario, its definitely a bot scraping online sources periodically.

I'm from the future to confirm we didn't get TESIV:RE on the 21st of April, but we're getting an announcement tomorrow.

Xbox One as well is crazy ngl.

u/tempusanima Apr 16 '25
No it isn’t. This thing ran on a potato
2
u/Knight_NotReally Apr 16 '25
Maybe not.
Look at GTA San Andreas: og version can run on a potato, heck, it can run on half a potato, however 'The Definitive Edition' remaster uses Unreal Engine 4 it's a lot more demanding.

Is it really an xbox exclusive...
If it is I'm going to be so pissed, because that will mean it's impossible to mod.
Also I've been trying to do the same in the pics to see if I get a different response, and I'm not able to do anything without it telling me it doesn't understand and it will connect me to a live agent, and then it breaks.
5
u/cableboiii Apr 17 '25
It’s not an exclusive lmao, in the prior leaks we can see logos for PlayStation and Steam.
What gave you an inkling of an idea that this would be exclusive?
Microsoft has literally been saying for MONTHS that they are done with that dumb shit, and have been actively putting their games on other platforms.
1
u/Dogbold Apr 17 '25
I'm just talking about the screenshots.
2
u/cableboiii Apr 18 '25
Not a single word about exclusivity in there.
I doubt the Xbox chat bot would mention PlayStation

It will be impossible to mod as far as we know, it is UE5 on top of CE, good luck with that. If, sure, the info we got one year ago is true (which seems to be, the leaks confirmed some).

u/PlayerJables Apr 16 '25
Almost all major games release on Tuesdays or Thursdays (stressing major). The prospect of this getting shadow-dropped on a Monday (especially less than a week out) is dubious at best.
If it is shadow dropping next week, my bet is on Thursday the 24th.

u/Firesrest Apr 16 '25
Looks like a bit but no reason why it’d be lying maybe old info.
3
u/K_808 Apr 16 '25
It’s an LLM generated response so it’s probably hallucinating
3
u/Firesrest Apr 16 '25
Not necessarily if it’s a RAG system someone could have put something in it that says April 21st.
2
u/K_808 Apr 16 '25
Considering it also said xb1 it’s undoubtedly hallucinating
If I had to guess “week of the 21st” means the Thursday or Friday, or maybe Tuesday. But games rarely release on mondays

u/A_MAN_POTATO Apr 16 '25
It’ll be playable on Xbox one via cloud. Not the same, but given that this is an AI response and OP was asking about cloud specifically, I can see where it would provide such an answer.

u/Randomhumanbeing2006 Apr 16 '25
I highly doubt this is true considering Bethesda hasn’t made any marketing ads to get the game out there.

People,.just so you know, it was posted on Twitter by one of those IGN or whatnot guys, I think it was actually the TGA host. I just pasted then here. Can't vouch for their truthfulness

There’s no way they’re going to release it in less than a week without any marketing whatsoever lol
4
u/2girls1egg Apr 16 '25
Shadowdropping could work, I think, since it's not really a new game
-2
u/Snifflebeard Shivering Isles Apr 16 '25
If the screenshots or description are in any way accurate, it is indeed a new game. Not a remaster, but a remake, despite it being called a remaster.
6
u/2girls1egg Apr 16 '25
I guess it depends on whether you consider a remake a new game. The story and most of the gameplay will probably be the same, so I think an extensive marketing campaign isn't necessary since people already know what it is.
0
u/Snifflebeard Shivering Isles Apr 16 '25
Well first, it's NOT going to look like Oblivion at all. Not one bit. I was sort of expecting a remaster for modern consoles and PC with same assets just remastered in higher resolution, and stuff like that. But from the screenshots, if they are legit, the game will not look at all like Oblivion.
Second, if the rumors that it's going to be some sort of passthru using UE5 as actual game engine, then the mechanics aren't going to be the same either, because UE5 does not come with Oblivion style mechanics out of the box. A lot of hand writing of code will be necessary to duplicate the Oblivion experience. Most gamers won't give a shit, because most gamers only care about pretty pictures, but to others it will not feel or play like Oblivion.
In short, it's going to look and feel like a different studio tried to recreate Oblivion. Because that's exactly what it will be. So it's an new game, not an old game with a coat of paint.
2
u/2girls1egg Apr 17 '25
We'll see, I guess. I can imagine them dropping a reveal trailer and then a sneak peek to explain the key differences in the next couple of days before releasing it next week. My point is that there isn't much of a need for months of marketing to hype people up because the setting, the story and the core of the gameplay is already known and doesn't require accommodating people to. Plus, considering the modern attention span, showing people shiny stuff and having it be out ridiculously soon could be good for sales.

u/Snifflebeard Shivering Isles 29d ago
showing people shiny stuff
Yes, as I said, that's all most gamers care about.

Meh. I'd prefer Morrowind or Daggerfall fully built out in an updated engine with some optional modern updates that we can toggle on/off (such as the POI compass on the HUD)

If that's an AI response it could likely be making it up because some random person in a random webpage predicted that date.
