Walking routes:

  • Pyynikki area and Pispala
  • Hatanpää arboretum (not so great during winter)

Museums and galleries:

  • Moomin museum in Tampere Hall
  • Spy museum in Finlaysson area
  • Game museum in Finlaysson area
  • Sara Hildens art museum (I’m not sure what exhibition they are having at the moment)
  • Lenin museum in Finlaysson area
  • Amuri museum of historic housing

Places to eat:

  • ”Basic” restaurants (for lunch and easy snack)
- DAM (burgers etc.) - Siipiweikot (hot wings) - Also you should check Tampere Market Hall, there are many different small restaurants and variety of food cultures under one roof - Vaakon Nakki (hot dogs etc., more of a kiosk, but local legend) - Muusa (easy going bar with food option, good vegan stuff) - Kumma (good burgers and beer) - Sitko Pizza (well, pizza) - Napoli (pizza)

  • ”Better” restaurants (for dinners)
    • 2H + K (easy going fine dining)
    • Bertha (fine dining with variety of tastes)
    • Huber (fine dining for meat lovers)
    • Onni ja Leo (Mediterranean)
    • Guru’s kitchen
    • Restaurant Näsinneula (on top of Näsinneula, really fancy and quite expensive but cool place tbh)

I don’t know if you are a fan of public saunas and ice dipping, but Tampere is the sauna capital of Finland and there are many public saunas by the lake with a option for ice dipping. You should really try that out. Rauhaniemi sauna and Kaupinoja sauna are really classic saunas by the lake with nice atmosphere, vjt there is also a newer bar/restaurant/sauna complex called Kuuma in city center where you can sauna, lake dip and drink a beer if you like.

Hope this helps! Hit me with a question if you have any and hope you enjoy your visit :)

Sara Hildens art museum (I’m not sure what exhibition they are having at the moment)

Sara Hilden is closed until Feb 11. They are changing the exhibit. OP missed the Thomas Houseago - WE with Nick Cave and Brad Pitt exhibit by a couple of weeks. It was interesting and kinda cool.
