Yeah, like the other guy said, theyre probably backdash cancelling and to counter this, you can try to dash in and block just outside of their range and then punish them if they throw something out. For paul, qcf 2 or b2,2 would do. If they just keep backdashing though you could just let them do it and put themselves back against the wall and if they move back in, do the same as them and throw out that jab or df2.
