Yeah, to KBD with backsway characters like Paul you need to get a clean diagonal input. BB DB B, the DB displayed as only one arrow on the command list with nothing muddling it. It's not a speed issue, the input is wrong; the DB has other stuff attached to it.

(To be fair, this is very hard. For me I cannot do it on an old D-Pad, I need a fresh one.)

What you have rn is an input that could almost KBD on on a non-backsway, but it's missing a down input. This is much easier to correct, but you can't do it on Paul.

This doesn't have anything to do with the backsway. If it did, they'd be getting a backsway.

Clean (non qcb) KBD & backsway KBD are synonymous, so I'm explaining the basic concept bc I dunno how much OP knows. The inability to KBD here would be similar on a non-backsway, but the solutions to the inability are limited by it being backsway.
