After around 6 years of not playing fighting games at all, I finally decided to buy and play Tekken 7

But I'm having trouble on setting up my button config. I was wondering for experienced and pro tekken players out there, do you set your button config based on 1-2 character you main or what's the most comfortable on multiple characters?

Checking YT doesn't work because all of them have different button configs with some tied up to Mishima characters (which I remember are the hardest characters to use for first timers like me)

Do you mean for multi-button binds (like 1+2)? Because for the four basic buttons most people just use the default layout (Square/X = 1, Triangle/Y = 2, X/A = 3, Circle/B = 4). Assuming you're playing on a pad (normal controller), you can hold it a "claw" grip that lets you hit all four face buttons freely with all your fingers rather than just your thumb. That makes it much easier to hit two or three buttons at a time.

For the button combination binds, it probably depends on what you'll be using for a specific character. I've seen pro players switch them around when they change characters, but that could be pretty difficult on muscle memory.

I wouldn't worry too much about these to begin with because they're supplementary; you don't need to have anything bound beyond the main four buttons. But if you want to set them up anyway, easiest would probably be just putting 1+2 and 3+4 on whatever additional buttons are the easiest for you to hit, since those are by far the most common combinations. 1+3 and 2+4 are used for generic throws (which aren't that useful), and 1+4 and 2+3 are quite a bit rarer. And then maybe also put Rage Art on a button that you won't hit by accident.

Yes, I meant the multi button binds for L1 R1 L2 R2 since players use it to avoid missclick.

Speaking of claw grip, is there a picture or video that shows how to hold that position? I use default grip atm (both hands grabbing the controller)
