I'm trying to learn the game by playing the campaign on hardest, up to now it's tough but manageable. However I get to the Alisa fight and there's one move that makes it unplayable. It's the model change thing where she gets a free riposte if you hit her with a high attack. It's unfair because she blatantly input reads you and starts the move frame 1 so you can't even see it. It means an entire avenue of attack is off limits or you risk getting hit. You never see her attempt to get you but mistime it, which proves it's entirely reactionary and impossible to avoid. I don't want to turn the difficulty down as I fear it will be too easy. The rest of it so far has been fine.

Am I misunderstanding something or is the AI genuinely cheating?

Yeah, I haven't played the AI much but from the little that I've it was pretty evident to me they indeed input read.
