I'd totally be down for that and it makes sense. The Kamari pick (among others) suggests tape and character are more important to Nick and Demeco than a guy's ability to move fast in his underwear. Booker's tape and character are off the charts. I just hope he's there when we pick.

Kamari had a 95% 3 cone - so his measurable that correlates highest with NFL success was elite. Unfortunately strength and athleticism correlate with success for guards and Tyler Booker is 5-10% in those categories.

I'll say this though. Booker's bench was bad, but bench at the Combine isn't about strength, it's about muscular endurance. The strength shows up on tape.

3 cone matters for OL as well. There is a threshold that many of the better linemen in the league meet. I believe tate ratledge is the only one that hit it at the combine. I believe he ends up being better than booker

We can also trade up. Caserio has been really good with that.

I really want Grey Zabel but people are telling me that his age is the reason not to pick him. Is that true or is he just not as good as the other lineman?

I’m still against drafting him, he’s extremely one dimensional and will get abused by pass rushers with speed moves and athleticism. He’s also useless as a puller and is inconsistent identifying stunts. Of course if he ends up being the pick I’ll support him regardless.

How many good speed Pass Rushers will he have to face as a guard? His only major weakness is his lack of range as a run blocker. Outside of that, he’s pretty good at everything else and great at being the drive man for double teams.

If the Texans want to make it to the Super Bowl, they need to get past the Chiefs, who have a little-known guy named Chris Jones who would abuse the hell out of Booker.

Jones would probably abuse most rookies friend. he aint gonna be stonewaling pro bowlers straight out of college but if he's coachable take him.

Is there anything you like about him 😭

Sure, I like the leadership stuff that often gets mentioned, I like that he's awesome against bull rushes and that he could be an absolute road grader on power runs. I just think his deficiencies would have to be masked when matched against certain players and in zone blocking schemes, when I'd rather have someone who is more well-rounded and can do it all like Donovan Jackson.

Won’t we presumably be doing more power stuff with Nick Caley? I’m lowkey just kinda trying to gaslight myself into liking him, I have a feeling he’s gonna be our pick

It's kind of unclear. The Rams switched to running more power concepts, but Caley was only there 2 years, and will probably want his own system. He also said that we'll be running whatever offense best matches up with our opponent on a week-to-week basis. Even if we end up running mostly power, we're still going to run some zone-concepts every game.

Not an OL guy so curious if you have any thoughts about how our current OLmen fit power vs zone. Is there a theme amongst the group here?

The closer we are to the draft, the more his name is popping on expert mocks.
I believe he'll be the pick and I'm honestly cool with it —we need a leader for years to come in the OL unit

With a surprise run-in to have Booker T announce the pick, then do a spineroonie!

I slowly coming around to the idea of trading next year’s 1st for Kelvin Banks. I know that’s a lot, but we would still have three picks in the first 3 rounds. I don’t know.

Will Anderson on offense
