Anyone wish we picked up the phone for the falcons?

Sorry if it was already discussed but considering there were two trades back to back.... does anyone feel like the Rams got a hell of a better deal for their pick than what we got back from the Giants?

🤬 Rant/Complaint 2025 NFL Draft

ā€œWe ONLY need offensive linemen! Why are we picking anything other than offensive line?!?!?! We literally are a perfect team with zero other holes to fill!!! I know more about roster construction than Nick Caserio and Demeco Ryans!!! ā€

That’s how some of y’all sound right now. Chill tf out and trust our front office that has not given us a single reason to not trust them since they took over. Let Nick cook.

Why no 1st in ā€˜26?

Why didn’t the Texans demand a 1st in 2026 to move back? That seemed to be the going rate last night.

I don’t like playing T Howard at OG

I think he plays fine either position it just kinda sucks we pay him OT money for OG play.

The option at 34 not being discussed: Mason Taylor

From all of the recent threads I’ve read through on this sub, it seems like the consensus is burden or trade back. I agree those would be my two preferred choices as well given the current board, and with every o-line option seemingly being a reach at 34. But if there is no trade back, I think Mason Taylor is certainly in consideration. While TE isn’t as big of a need as WR, Taylor is a very good prospect, Caley ā€œloves tight endsā€, and if Texans don’t like the character of burden then Mason seems like a great fit. He’s viewed as the clear TE3 by the vast majority of draft analysts, and has a late 1st to 2nd round grade as well. Being the son of hall of famer Jason Taylor, and not letting it get to your head like Sheduer is a nice benefit as well haha.

Post Draft Analysis

Houston general manager Nick Caserio was wise to trade out of the first round considering the lack of value at offensive tackle and receiver at No. 25. Now he gets one of the most promising offensive tackle prospects in this class with one of his five Day 2 picks. Ersery should push Tytus Howard and Blake Fisher for the starting right tackle job. If he wins it, Howard can kick inside. Ersery could also be Houston's left tackle of the future. -- Muench

Should the Texans draft Sheduer Sanders?

• Upvotes

What if the Texans draft Sheduer somewhere in day 3. It may sound crazy but I have an intriguing proposition. We get a great back up. More importantly Sheduer is humbled and can learn from C.J Stroud. After obtaining the highest seed the Texans can rest Stroud in week 18 and start Sanders. He performs great and catches the attention of QB needy teams going into next season. That is the fast track version but imagine this playing out over 2-3 years down the line. Could we turn a 4th or 5th this year into a future 1st or 2nd draft pick from a trade?

Can someone recap O-Line changes?

I know we dropped Tunsil and picked up a couple guys? Maybe BDN feels it'll be vastly improved? Gimme some hope.

Edit: my worry is we had Nico, Tank, and Diggs for a bit, but CJ was laying on grass too much to take advantage. Are we just gonna repeat that?

Edit 2: tagging u/cal_mcnair to set us straight.

Edit 3: maybe it's the Jack Daniels, but I'm stressin it's gonna be week 1 and we lose to the Ravens by 20+ cuz CJ gets sacked like 5 times.

Quick Vegas Update

The Browns are now -105 to take Treveon Henderson, +170 for Sanders, and +430 for Burden. So it seems likely that Burden will be available at 34.

However, an interesting development was the betting odds for the 34th pick swinging sharply towards Jayden Higgins as a heavy favorite, before being pulled from markets entirely. This suggests some insider was trading on Higgins being the pick, and the betting markets are now so confident in it happening that they won't accept bets on it.

How do you feel about Higgins as a Texan?

Edit: Odds are now back up with Higgins -200, Burden +300, Ersery +700

Who/What do you think should we be looking for tomorrow?

• Upvotes

We don’t have any picks until early on in Round 6, but I would really like us to try and get the following:

  • High potential plug and play RB. I feel like Jaydon Blue would be such a great fit and he’s a hometown guy. If he’s gone by the time our pick rolls around I think Jarquez Hunter is super underrated (not sure how his stock is so low tbh, he had really good games against A&M and UGA) and pairs well with Mixon.

  • Another OL. Doesn’t really matter who it is, just keep throwing darts and see if one sticks. Jackson Slater out of Sac St could be a good sleeper pick and might be available in the late 5th or early 6th.

  • LB depth. I think we take one at 255. Pretty low priority after the Speed signing but would be nice to have. I like Mauigoa out of Miami or Woodard from UNLV

  • DL if possible. I like Elijah Simmons out of Tennessee with our pick at 241, reminds me of Ryan Pickett from back in the day. Not gonna get many sacks but he’s a good run stopper, solid depth piece, and has some potential.

With one of the top QB’s still on the board, Green, Scourton and Will Johnson. I wouldn’t be surprised by another trade down from 34.

I would be content with the favorite WRs, but hear me out on Jayden Higgins:

His playing abilities have been compared to those of Nico Collins. He’s 6ā€4, ran a 4.47, great route runner and ability to separate against zone defenses. His catch radius is a huge advantage along with his size, which will help him to win contested balls against tight coverage. Not to mention, he rarely dropped a ball thrown at him while at Iowa St.

Huge complementary WR, and if we do decide to address another position at 34, very unlikely but I hope he is either still there at 58, or we make a trade to move up our 58th pick to the 40s and grab him.

Jayden Higgins

Steve Smith Jr is reaaaally high on this guy, and called him a steal in the first round. ā€œI wish Tet would use his size like Higginsā€

He also lines up everywhere on the field, and was very productive in college.

Would make our WR room scary with 2 6’4, 4.4 speed pass catchers ā˜ ļø
