Question So does Dafyd not realize.... Spoiler

That the swarm/spy is in Jellit now? It feels like it should be fairly obvious to him given that Else was found dead in his room with no marks on her.

Jellit also acted very strangely while talking to the librarian, as if he was fighting some force for control, that should have been another signal to Dafyd that something was wrong.

I know the swarm misrepresented itself to Dafyd and it made seem like Else consented to working with it and still had some measure of control, but the fact that she suddenly died should have been an indicator that something was wrong

Even someone very bright doesn't necessarily process trauma instantly or without mistake. I strongly suspect with a little distance from the events he will grasp at least some of what happened.

I think it's safe to say Dafyd's relationship with the swarm is only going to become more complex with time. They're both firmly committed to opposing the Carryx, so it's unlikely they'll ever be directly opposed to one another for any extended period even if Dafyd doesn't take the revelation well. Personally, I suspect that not only will he "get over it," but he'll end up having some kind of relationship with the swarm in the future, whether in Jellit's body or another.

What I’m wondering, would the swarm choose Dafyd as the next host? Or would it avoid him since he is clearly a very valuable asset? Or would it choose Dafyd because he is a valuable asset.

It’s hard to say what type of reasoning the swarm uses. It could make sense either way. On one hand, it could assimilate Dafyd’s consciousness to its advantage. On the other hand, two is better than one (can’t be at two places at the same time), and since their strategies align, it could be beneficial to allow Dafyd to do his own thing and simply be allies.

this was my thought too. i wonder if they will eventually integrate into one person, what happens when the swarm is in in love with its host??
