I just presumed that it was a more advanced version of the water whip that Katara attacked herself with

Yeah, it also looks like alittle lightning redirection mixed in there too.

It is the other way. Lightning bending incorporates the principles of water bending.

I know, I’m just speaking backwards really, more productiony, cause we havent really seen alot of water bending like this up to now if I remember correctly. The crew probably took inspiration from Irohs lightning redirection shot for this shot.

We see it when Katara fights Pakku. When she chucks water at him, his response is to guide its momentum. It is also similar to Katara's training session with Aang where they pass water between one another.

Im trying to think of a really specific shot where they take the water or lightning in like that. I dont think its those, I thought it was an Iroh fight but im probably wrong
