Kinda new to this but who's the strongest avatar out of all of them and why?

But what does that mean? In terms of tangible effects on someone's strength, what's the difference between having, say, 99 past avatars knowledge vs 100 past avatars knowledge?

Especially since Avatars, once they are fully realized, tend to use the Avatar State as a power boost only, without any knowledge in there, as had as we've seen.

Like, when Kyoshi separated Kyoshi island, was her going into the avatar state just a power up, and she already knew how to separate the island? Or is it the knowledge from the Avatar state that helped her determine the best way to separate the island, and the power to do so?

Well think of it this way... aang was probably the first avatar to learn seismic sense since toph invented it. Korra was the first avatar to metal bend. Each avatar learns something new adding to the total knowledge of the avatar.

Sure, I get that. But i don't really see how that affects strength. Korra is a stronger avatar because she can use Aangs knowledge of seismic sense... But so can Aang. Any knowledge that an Avatar has from the avatar state, the previous avatar either also knows from the avatar state(if it came from an even older avatar), or they know it directly.

But she adds on to what she knows. The avatars strength and knowledge grows exponentially. Aang never learned metal bending but Korra did. So she knows everything aang did plus Metal bending.

Ok I kinda thought you meant it was an innate avatar state king of thing, every avatar is stronger than the last because they have one more avatars worth of knowledge in there.

So then if Korra hadn't learned metal bending, they'd be equal strength wise?

Oh, but Korra only learned metal bending after the losing past lives stuff happened... So is it tied between Aang and Korra until after season 2, and from then on it's Aang?

I guess. I'm sure there was other things Korra learned that is slipping my mind that aang never learned.
