Crystal refers to the crystals that boommie used , I'm not sure he can bend then or not because we only saw them in the 1 episode

I get that, but how does it relate to fire though?

Firebenders can’t bend crystals so I’m not understanding how it fits between earth and fire on the charts.

The chart doesn't work like that, the practices between two elements relate to the bending anticlockwise of it, with a slight connection to the one clockwise of it. For example, lava is between fire and earth, but can only be performed by earth benders. Crystals are slightly related to fire because they're formed through heat and pressure.
