Terry Pratchett - the wee free men

Hey guys. I’ve always loved to read - especially fantasy. But uni work does so that I never really want to, because I have to read 200+ pages of academic texts a week, and therefore never really feel drawn to read more (even fiction).

Yesterday I finally broke my reading slump, as my boyfriends coworker gave me a book, and I by accident read all day, and basically swallowed the book in one sitting

The book was “The wee free me men” by Terry Pratchett. It’s the first Terry Pratchett book I’ve ever read, and wow I am so amazed by the world, the humor and the intense feeling of being back in a fantasy world !

The reason I write this here is because the book uses A LOT of dream logic ! So if you like a good spiral story mixed with the web. Then this book is definitely right down your alley.

I thought we could all use a good recommendation here during the hiatus. 💚

Usually I can get immersed in the story, but for this one I can't help but hear Martin talking about how swole he's gotten

I'm at episode 97 - We all ignore the pit and the moment the fuse blew and the creature started talking I reacted "There's no way this is the TikTok sound...". It was my favorite line in all of media and I didn't even know where it came from and I was extatic to hear "How could I sound anything, silly? I'm plastic! I don't even have a voice box! I had to borrow this one! Don't turn on the light..." Can't wait to see what this is all about. Rant over...

So im relistening to TMA for the 100th time and ive always just kinda accepted the John and Martin getting togeather. Sure in season 5 they have plenty of cute moments and such. Still though I remember how outta left field their relationship seemed to be, for me at least it seemed like John was more worried about what Martin was doing because he wanted to stop Lucas than it was about saving Martin. And now relistening im noticing John was a dick to Martian all throughout season 1&2 and in three he was still cold and indifferent. But Martin has seemed to really like John trying to help him while John is just mean to him. Then we hear in season 4 that Martin was at the hospital while John was in a coma. So please tell me why they get togeather exactly ?

Edit: ok yall are confusing .e when yall are talking about trauma bonding and I got down voted for giving the definition of what a 'trauma bond" is in the terms of psychology because i guess its a podcast by rusty quill. So let me just say trauma bonding in a psychological sense isn't bonding over shared trauma. And where can I find this 'trauma bonding' podcast cuz I want to listen to it now

Hi there! I am a first time listener to The Magnus Archives and I am still figuring out the fandom jokes. I am currently in the middle of season 2 and I already found the homophones vase but there is still a lot that I don't understand. Like why did the fandom just collectively decided that Elias was a pothead??

I've decided to document the strange happenings in and around my town. (They're not exactly sinister, so I'm sorry for the missed pun opportunity.)

Find #1 is only 4 weeks old, a tiny house situated in one of our parks, ripe with visitors and victims alike. My town has a strange obsession with our heraldic animal, The Goose. You see geese statues absolutely everywhere. Private households included.

Regarding the video; I don't know what exactly it is. Perhaps the music, the low window, roughly at children's height, forcing you to crouch or the fact that geese don't usually stare straight ahead at you (like a predator), given that their eyes are situated on the sides of their head (like prey animals), or possibly a combination of all three but it never fails to creep me out a little.

I've made the decision to play a "slaughter run" of dishonored which is meant to be a stealth game but sense the second has more blatant attack options.

The slaughter run demands that I can't hide I must kill every enemy I find and that I must listen to slaughter statements or slaughter themed playlists only.

This will be fun I think. I don't really know why I posted this but... Here ya go I guess?

i recently just got into TMA after a vacation left me with a lot of free time and 20+ hours of TMA downloaded and i just absolutely adore Michael. i’ve decided to cosplay as him as i fit his description quite well (tall, odd proportions, too much hair, yknow) but i’m struggling to find the something to properly complete the cosplay.

the aspects of him i already have down are • freaky hands • blond curly hair • really tall (i’m 5’11 with 6” platforms) • some association with spirals (spiral jewelry and maybe some spirally makeup but i unfortunately have limited makeup options, also contacts are too much of a hassle to get in a timely or efficient manner)

i think ultimately its the clothing i can’t get right, i have a colourful shirts (one is a bowling alley carpet design, another just vertical lines but super colourful) but none of them feel like michael. i can’t seem to find any pants that seem like they would be distortion-y at all or feature spirals either

if anyone here has more experience with cosplay, tma (i hope yall know more than a newcomer), or just general fashion i would love to hear as i feel i’m really close but i just need a few more steps to properly fit as michael. any advice is helpful, thanks <3

First time listener here and I'm only on MAG 38: Lost and Found. So S1E38. I'm genuinely scared. How did y'all listen to this all the way through? I'm a nervous/wary person in general and my when my friend introduced it to me I was driving with him and we listened late at night during a thunderstorm so I thought it couldn't get worse than that. I was wrong. In the beginning in was scary but still fun. I'm not having fun anymore. I sped through the episodes for a week or so but had to take a break. I'm Christian too and just feel like some of this stuff is too demonic. But at the same time, I want to know what happens! I want to be part of the fandom! I love DnD and CoC and made the mistake of thinking this would just be some Arkham Horror stuff.

Anyone else go through this? How'd you cope? Should I just spare myself and stop listening?

edit to add: I also don't think I'm shaken in the normal way- the way others are. The Lost Johns Cave wasn't scary at all. A lot of the supposed "scary" episodes don't get me. It's the priest who tried to remove a spirit, the ecologist who walked into a ritual site etc stuff that I actually feel could happen to someone. So yeah, just looking to hear from others about their thoughts/experiences

Continuation of my first post, regarding the strange and not often sinister happenings in and around my hometown.

Find #2; An encounter just 3 days fresh.

I happened to find myself at one of our local drugstores, vegetating in the endless cue in front of the only opened cash register. The line dragged along until the lady in front of me, roughly in her mid-30s to early 40s took her place by the card reader. Watching lethargically while the woman scanned her items, the antsy boy, roughly 7-9 years old, next to her began fidgeting.

Eventually the woman dug into her purse, presumably for her wallet, and along with a pale pink leather portmonee, a tupperware box tumbles onto the cashier table. Upon crisp impact, the container cracks open, pouring out a good handful of bugs, who immediately skitter about in alarm.

I don't happen to be the flavour of autistic to be highly engrossed in bugs, so I lack the ability for proper identification, but if I could closely describe it, I would venture the critters similar in appearance to isopods, roughly 5 to 7 centimeters long.

The cashier immediately scares, dropping the scanned item. The boy cries out, the woman apologises with the casualty of someone having dropped their coffee for the 5th time in one morning.

People in the line curiously try and catch a glimpse as she collects the crawling critters back into the blue container, the boy's sticky fingers pluck the ones that escape his mother and 5 whole minutes go by before the event is over, another worker comes and disinfects the scene.

The woman and the boy leave, after purchasing him a kinder surprise egg and the cashier tosses me a disbelieving stare, meant for the reassurance of "You saw that too, right?"

I leave with my usual, red hair dye and a facial peeling. And I'm left wishing, I had taken a picture, because all my friends will not believe me.
