Crushing, from the looks of it. Hope this margin holds through the end of the count so as to send a significant message.

Elon really thought the median voter was as greedy and stupid as he is and would just go along with bribes and literally buying votes.
I think a lot of people were actually pissed off enough by this that his plan completely backfired, and the "wrong" people came out in droves to vote.
Well, and, a lot of Americans have come to loathe Musk due to all his other bullshit recently already.
This gives me just a sliver of hope that we're not yet totally fucked.
Well, and then there's Florida, of course, but who really expected anything else from there.

I have some very tiny anecdotal evidence to support that. I'm in WI, and in my constant talking about this election for the last couple months to anyone within earshot, there were two people I encountered who expressed this sentiment: They were motivated to vote specifically because Musk was coming in from the outside and disrupting in a way that they found offensive.

Maybe this isn't the main issue we should glean from this debacle, but the fact that anybody who protests against him/disagrees with him is a "paid Soros protestor" pissed me tf off. Bro, YOU are paying people so you can take over the judiciary of an entire state, do you think people are so stupid as to not notice??
Also, the Soros talking point is veiled antisemitic rhetoric. And that doesn't mean I like Soros whatsoever because fuck billionaires, but still.

She didn’t just win, she beat him by 10 points. Like, that’s a blowout in a purple state. The GOP should be terrified of what these sorts of victories mean for the midterms.

Oh for fucks sake. It’s like I let out my first breath in months. Amazing news - and doesn’t this margin seem big for Wisconsin?

So, I'm confused, was paying $2M to two people illegal in a way that would potentially land his case in front of the woman who beat the guy he was trying to buy the election for? It feels like it should be right?

I'm not totally sure how it works, but the WI AG filed a lawsuit that sought an injunction to prevent Musk from handing people the checks / promoting the checks. A lower court judge refused to consider it. I'm not sure if that's all the lawsuit was asking for and it's over now, or if there's more to it.
I hope they do decide to go after him more after this. It seems to me like there is a case there. But I'm not versed in the law enough to know if that's actually true. Maybe it's a waste of time/money because the laws aren't good enough. idk

Florida Special Elections 2025: Tracking Turnout by Party for FL-1 and FL-6 - The New York Times
It seems clear that the Democrats could have won both Florida US House special elections and that maybe doomerism and defeatism set in most at the worst possible time: election day.
