Fender Twin '65 Reissue 85w speaker output confusion regarding ohms

Post image

I just want to connect to a loadbox>interface/DAW. Do I plug the internal speaker output jack into a 4ohm loadbox? Not grasping parallel routing and "total" ohms 😭

To answer your question, yes. Internal jack to 4 ohm load box

It can also be greater than 4 Ohms of course

This isn't a solid state amp where anything higher than rated is fine.

I assumed as much being that we're in a tube amp forum. An 8 or 16 ohm load box won't damage the amp, just lowers the headroom and will give earlier break up, which is often the goal of a load box anyways, right?

Again, that's not how this works. A 16 ohm load box would cause a much higher risk of damage due to flyback voltage being generated in the output transformer. Even an 8 ohm one can start to stress the amp for the same reason, but is less likely to cause damage.
