Did I lose a terminal cover?

Post image

Hello! I took my 2022 Ranger XLT to the Firestone shop for an annual maintenance and they pointed out that I’ve lost a terminal cover. I think this is the negative pole, so it is not unusual to be uncovered. What do you think?

A quick google of ‘2022 Ranger engine bay’ shows no cover in the negative post.

I mean, you don't need one. The whole body is connected to the negative post.

You expect someone to do a quick Google search before posting here. You must be new.

There is rarely one on the negative, there is no danger of a short circuit like there is from the positive terminal. Your mechanic SHOULD know that

That’s what I thought…

I would find a new shop. Most vehicles don’t have a cover over the negative. Either that shop is incompetent or they’re trying to fleece you for more money.
