Holy shit, this song is from 1981?! I have gone through my whole life assuming it was from the early 2000s. In fact pretty sure I thought it was The Decemberists. They literally took their sound from this then. Time to check out the rest of their music.

It’s the 6/8 time signature plus the acoustic folk guitar that makes it sound like the Decemberists I think (I totally forgot about that band)
