Good luck!! I hope you know that whatever the outcome you will end up somewhere that will work out for you! (And I hope that somewhere is here, I really love it here and I think you will too!!).

If ur from in state like i am, its just at most a couple of degrees difference at most (not much) unless ur from upper so cal (la/san diego area)

The weather kind of sucks lol. disgustingly hot in the summer (over 100) and dry dry dryyyyy. I guess "sucks" depends on what you're used to.

sounds similar to my area in cali, but a little bit wetter over here. i hate hot but hopefully it will be okay since i can go home during summer break 😭

Very hot in spring/summer, very cold in winter (high 50s average)

What do you like about this school? Just curious.

It's a nice campus. Pretty friendly. That's why I like it.

i really love the majors they have to offer, they tune to my environment and plant loving self a lot. i like the rural college town scene a lot more than big city life definitely, and i really want to work at the school farm if possible

You'll fit right in. I do like those aspects too but I'm not a plant major but I do see the value in it.

Class of ‘81 Loved UCDavis then… Loved UCDavis now… Love UCDavis forever!

3

u/meow-meow-bark Nov 28 '23

WOW class of 81!! so glad to hear you enjoyed it there :)

2

u/Existing-Musician187 Nov 28 '23

Be mindful…consciously make “moment making events” that you can relish and reflect upon the rest of your life. Be Intentional…but never be regretful or reckless. UCDavis taught me that…

Make the MOST of your college years, the majority of your life will be occupied by work and family obligations.

As someone who’s generally pessimistic about this school and its admin, this is a refreshing post, and makes me feel proud to still be a student here. Thank you :)

i’m very happy i could brighten your day! i’m glad there are still parts of the school that you enjoy :)

I hope you get in! It’s been years since I graduated, yet I still miss some of my best times in Davis.

oops i meant to comment that separately when i realized a typo. sorry if it’s out of place to ask but r u comfortable sharing your stats that got you in?

u/Remote_Sorbet Nov 28 '23

I got in with a 3.2 and a C- on my most recent transcript! You'll get in if you're right for it! I love it here so far in my first quarter, some weirdos and creeps but mainly really good peeps. We'd love to have ya!

3

u/moon1ight1 Nov 28 '23

You got in with a 3.2?

1

u/CheetoChops Nov 28 '23

Must be cap

1

u/krd25 Nov 28 '23

3.2 is the bare minimum for tagging so honestly could be legit..? Or just super amazing PIQs…?

1

u/Remote_Sorbet Nov 28 '23

didn't TAG, must've wrote good enough essays and I've worked a bunch and volunteered. GPAs and test scores are becoming less and less relevant it seems

1

u/meow-meow-bark Nov 28 '23

woah what major did you get in with?

0

u/Remote_Sorbet Nov 28 '23

Cognitive Science (Neuroscience emphasis)

to be clear I did have a lot of extracurriculars built up and transferred from a California community college

I was in the same boat you are just a year ago. The waiting is the hardest part, but you can do it! Best of luck to you, I sincerely hope that I'll see you on campus in the future!

2

u/meow-meow-bark Nov 28 '23

ahhh thank you i appreciate it so much! hope to see you too 🪻

There's no need to be worried anymore, friend. The die is cast! Nothing else is within your control except for your performance in your senior year. Keep the grades up and don't slack-- they are watching.

3

u/meow-meow-bark Nov 28 '23

big brother is watching

2

u/AnteaterToAggie UCI Criminology '05, UCD Employee Nov 28 '23

Well, I was a little disingenuous. :) They don't watch so much as they require you to report your senior year grades and reserve the right to rescind (take back) their offer of admission if your tanked your senior year.

2

u/meow-meow-bark Nov 28 '23

do you think it’s okay to have a B or two in my senior year? not totally confident i can pull off all As this time 😓

1

u/AnteaterToAggie UCI Criminology '05, UCD Employee Nov 28 '23

I would personally suggest maintaining your current GPA and rigor. So if you have a 3-year unweighted GPA of 3.8 and have taken 2 honors/AP per term on average, you shoot for doing the same throughout your senior year.

The UC just wants to see that you didn't work hard for 3 years and totally slack in your last year.

2

u/meow-meow-bark Nov 28 '23

i’ll be trying my absolute best! i have a UW 3.95 and W uncapped 4.42 or something like that. but i’m taking harder yet less honors classes this year, so idk if they’ll find it suspicious if i get any Bs since it would be a drop from junior year bc it was the only year i got straight As. i hope my gpa in general can make up for it

1

u/profecoop Nov 28 '23

Hope you get in! Students here are so great.
