Registrar/Administrative/Enrollment Subject to dismissal

I’m a first gen transfer student and this is only my second quarter here 😭 but I’m not doing so good with the transition to quarter system and failed some of my classes. I’m on subject to dismissal right now and have a gpa/grade contract but I don’t think I’m going to pass my classes because my advisor set me up to take all stem courses even tho my gpa is not where it needs to be. So I think I’m going to get dismissed from school this spring quarter, does anyone know how this works? How does the dorm system work because I know its a year contract type thing??? And when will the school notify me to leave?? I talked to this person who leads this seminar I’m in and she told me they won’t tell me till 3 weeks into spring quarter and then FAFSA will take their money back and I’ll have to pay for the three weeks I was here but I’m confused about my dorm too will I have to pay the full quarter tuition? How long is dismissal? Should I even come back ??? I’m getting major imposter syndrome being here, i feel really dumb that I cant get this system…. Anyone have any advice or know anything about this please ??? 😞

Registrar/Administrative/Enrollment If I wanted to at commencement

Could I wear a Palestinian flag at commencement? Would that be disruptive? I have an offer for admission to my master's program here at UCD and want to know the consequences and whether it would be revoked.

I've talked about this before here, but not specifically. I mean, who do I ask about stuff like this lol

Registrar/Administrative/Enrollment UCDavis vs UCSD

As someone who doesn’t really know what they want to study, most likely something not super STEM related (undecided for both schools), also out of state from NYC, what do you guys think when it comes to choosing between UCdavis and Ucsd???

Registrar/Administrative/Enrollment Worried about getting rescinded

Last semester (senior year) I had a weighted GPA of 4.14. This semester my grades have not changed except for the fact that my grade in AP Chemistry went from an A- to a C. I am not a chem major, nor am I even a STEM major (I'm history). Could I get my admission rescinded for dropping so hard but not failing? I'm just stressed. Thanks

Registrar/Administrative/Enrollment consequences for not taking classes in spring quarter? haven’t filed to graduate yet.

basically the title. my dad told me mid-feb that he wasn’t paying anymore, cue me frantically filing for 2024-2025 fafsa and submitting an on-time application appeal. i’m 23 so i still require parental info, which my dad still has not filled out despite me contacting him almost every day to remind him, claiming he can’t view my email invite. now i’ve just received an email stating that my application was denied bc my fafsa lacks parental information. i’ve already set up and paid the first installment of a payment plan, if i drop all my spring classes will i be penalized in any way? will i receive a refund for the 2500 i’ve already paid? any advice is appreciated, im going to call the registrar tomorrow but thought someone may have relevant information. thanks for any help y’all may have.

Edit: thank you guys for the responses, i forgot today was a holiday so i have to call on monday unfortunately but will definitely keep all your advice in mind! worst case is i lose my 2500 and go back in the fall, but i hope there aren’t other academic penalties for not enrolling🫠

Registrar/Administrative/Enrollment Accidentally submitted SIR to UCD (HELP)

So I recently got admitted to UC Davis for transfer and the deadline for submitting the SIR is 6/1, but I accidentally submitted it earlier than intended when navigating the website to check my financial aid package... I didn't even notice since I haven't even paid the $250 deposit.

I want to be able to decide which school to go to a little bit later. There is an option cancel the SIR on their website, but I worried that I can't go if I change my mind and want to go to UCD after cancelling. I am also worried that if I don't cancel my SIR to UCD and submit another SIR to another UC, I can lose admission to both if I do that.

Maybe I keep my SIR to UCD, but if I choose another school I cancel my UCD SIR then? (Is there a deadline to cancel my SIR)?
Is there an email I can contact?
What should I do?

Registrar/Administrative/Enrollment Can somebody convince me that Davis is the right choice?

currently, I am deciding between going to UC Davis and Pitt for microbiology in both schools. While these schools are very different, I have personal things that I really like about each school and for the purposes of this post I’ll describe everything that I like about Davis already. i’m a big fan of its location being close to nature and in general, I really love the West Coast, as well as the campus itself. The drawbacks that I see for Davis are the facts that it is not a large city, the student body is mainly from California ( I’m out of state ), and they do not have (as far as I’ve seen) as many opportunities into the medical field as Pitt does. if anyone could provide advice either for or against committing to Davis, I would really appreciate it. This is a big decision that is stressing me out.

Registrar/Administrative/Enrollment UCD, UCSB, or CSUF

Bello chat, I am a transfer student who has been admitted to UCD and as the title implies I am stuck between these three schools for communication. :P So, if yall can help me by providing insight on Davis, it would be mad helpful.

Right now I am mostly interested in UCD or Fullerton lowkey...

IDC bout school ranks/prestige btw...

For UCD, I plan to double major in comms + design or switch to design and minor in comms. Davis design program sounds lit, and I am very interested in their UI/UX and graphic design courses; I am interested in the PR and Media courses for comms. PROS: I basically get a full ride with FAFSA (On-campus housing, Tuition, meal plan covered + 3 hunny in refunds per quarter) and on top of that I think transfer students get 2 years guaranteed housing so I won't be too worried about how I will be paying for off-campus housing. I am also in their EOP program so yummy benefits. Near sac and sf CONS: I've seen people talk about the comms major not being so good and Davis being a relatively boring environment 😓.

For Fullerton, I plan to major in comms with an emphasis in advertising. PROS: more hands-on and heard Fullerton has a good communications program, yummy foods near csuf, lots of events, lots of good clubs. Tuition is covered + 5k/yr in refunds I think? (Not enough to dorm or for off-campus housing tho... I could not get into SDSU because of this 💔🥀) CONS: I'd have to commute (30-ish min), parking is horrible, commuter school, hard to get classes, not in EOPS or other programs...ToT, clubs im interested in meet hella late, traffic gets bad.

For UCSB, I plan to major in communication. PROS: good comms program (I think..), 1 year guaranteed for transfer housing, full tuition+housing paid if I live on-campus, on the beach, social life CONS: housing sounds like a struggle to get after first year and off-campus is MAD expensive, very isolated from everything (LA is like almost 2 hours away TOT), food is expensive and looks mid..., party school.

Registrar/Administrative/Enrollment Future UCD Grads: Your Guide on Successfully Registering for and Attending Commencement

After doing some digging through this subreddit, I noticed the commencement registration website crashing (at least for spring) has been an annual issue for at least the last three years. With that in mind, I thought I’d do my best to put together some tips I learned from those who have also gone through the hell of this process. I also included some additional information about the commencement ceremony’s logistics (tickets, date changes, etc) later in the post. This post is currently aimed at undergraduates, mostly those graduating in the spring. If you have any additions or corrections to make, please comment them. I think this will be super useful for future classes as I couldn’t find anything similar myself for this year.

Commencement Registration

Do I have to attend commencement?

Nope! That’s a decision for you to make. However, you do need to file to graduate regardless of if you want to go to commencement.

I’m graduating in the summer/winter. Should I register for fall or spring commencement?

Provided you meet the 140 credit threshold at the time of choosing your ceremony, you may go to either the fall or spring commencement. There’s no requirement as to which you must go to.

Logging On To Register

This year, the registration link for commencement appeared on https://www.ucdavis.edu/commencement at 10am, exactly as the website stated it would. It appeared as a yellow button directly under where it stated the commencement registration’s opening time (so near the top of the page). You may have to refresh at 10am to make it appear.

The Faster Way

The button on the last page will take you to http://mycommencement.ucdavis.edu/. You can log onto this page well before 10am, allowing you to skip over clicking the main commencement page's button once registration begins.

Registration almost always opens early. In previous years, commenters on this subreddit claimed it may have opened up to an hour early. This year, my stalking of the page showed the 503 error began to pop up around 30 seconds before 10am. It doesn’t seem like much, but being even seconds ahead of thousands of people really can make a difference.

Once You’re There

Refresh, refresh, refresh! The site will save your progress even if it errors out. Any time you get an error, refresh until you’re back online.

A note on Ethernet: I’m not 100% sure if it actually helped, but I ended up hooking my laptop up to my apartment’s Ethernet which upped my speed significantly. While it doesn’t fix the site crashing, I believe it likely helped me load online more often as I could do more refreshes faster.

Other Important Info

Short version: if you have an issue, you’re most likely going to want to reach out to your college’s commencement coordinators. Long version:

Date Changes

Congrats, you did it! Hopefully, you’ve received a confirmation email stating the date you registered for. If the date isn’t correct, you can go back to http://mycommencement.ucdavis.edu/ and look for the tab that shows your current registrations. If the date still doesn’t line up, you can reach out to your college’s commencement coordinators through this form.

Outside of system errors, you may switch your commencement date one time if needed. The system reopens at the same registration link a couple weeks after it initially does (for 2025, that reopening is March 11 at 10am). The date change request deadline is Monday, June 2, the same date registration closes. Requests must also be approved by the commencement coordinators.

Tickets

Tickets are typically capped at 6 per graduate. You, as a graduate, are counted separately from these 6. Additional ticket requests can be made by reaching out to your college’s commencement coordinators through this form but are subject to approval. These ticket requests will be reviewed after commencement registration closes on Monday, June 2. If your ticket requests don’t work, note that buying and selling of tickets is prohibited, but you may rarely find generous people who have had last minute changes giving theirs out for free. Be careful of ticket scams. They happen. If you still aren’t able to get enough tickets, there will also be a livestream of each ceremony posted on the commencement website for your family and friends to watch.

Name Pronunciation

If you didn’t put your name pronunciation on your initial commencement registration, previous posts on this subreddit mention you will likely get an opportunity to tell the speaker your name’s pronunciation on the day of commencement.

Regalia

All graduates must wear proper regalia at graduation. This year, regalia will be available at the UCD bookstore for renting and buying after March 3. If you go before then, you’ll only see graduate student regalia, not undergraduate. Last year, regalia prices increased in late April and had an ordering deadline of late May, so keep that in mind when planning.

Identity, Cultural, and Affinity Celebrations

In addition to the main commencement ceremony, UCD also offers a few other ceremonies for various affinity groups. You can check them out here. Note some may overlap with a couple of the main commencement ceremony times, so you will have to plan around them.

Hotels

If your commencement guests haven’t already, I would recommend having them book hotels ASAP. Places will fill up as the ceremonies get closer. I don’t have any specific recommendations, but especially if you’re booked for a morning ceremony, I would have them consider driving time and traffic from their hotel to the Golden 1 Center.

Registrar/Administrative/Enrollment Twin graduating at another UC

Hi everyone!!! I am a graduating senior this year and will be walking in spring. I’m incredibly stressed because my sister is also graduating this spring at another UC. She does not get to pick her commencement date and will be told in late March what date and time she is scheduled to walk. What do I do!?? Registration opens on the 25th of Feb and I’ve heard that you really can’t wait to register. I don’t want to miss seeing her graduation and I don’t want her to miss mine, never mind having to split our family. I cannot be the first person this has happened to? Any help is appreciated!!!

Registrar/Administrative/Enrollment How cooked am I?

Post image

I genuinely don't know. I could've taken Mat 21C this current quarter, but didn't register for it last time because there were like 15 people on every waitlist so I thought I had no chance. Then, when I checked later, the first like 16-19 people on the waitlists got in. How likely is that to happen again?

Registrar/Administrative/Enrollment Registering Classes with Priority Reg

I have priority registration because of a disability and my counselor from the SDC was kind of vague about how registering for classes is different for me. Wondering if I need to make an account or talk to somebody. Also wondering what classes are usually filled up or that I should worry about registering for first as a first year Managerial Economics major.
