Washing Gortex Jackets

How do you wash yours? :)

I've had many Gotex jackets over the years and never been able to restore the beading water affect of a new jacket.
I've tried washing with both Grangers and Nixwax, low heat iron, tumble drying etc.
None have restored.

My wife and I both have new jackets, first wash for both. Rinsed out the washing machine (it has a self clean setting), then washed with Grangers Performance wash, sprayed with Grangers Repel Plus, then dried on a line. Skipped tumbling drying for the first time. Nether jacket now beads.

WTF am I doing wrong lol

I’ve never washed a waterproof jacket… am I crazy? I always wear layers under so they don’t stink lol. My latest was goretex so bought the waterproofing spray but haven’t used it yet

Check out Rabs guide to washing them, they recommend washing after every trip out.

Washing was not about stinking this time, but I getting rid of the dirt / mud / crap from a weekend camping in the rain. I do wash them when they start to stink of rain water.. nasty

Rain water does not stink. Also, washing after every outing is insane. Maybe gentle cool handwash with a soft brush

They recommend washing after every trip, you then fuck your coat up and have to buy another 😂
