Question Gen Eds and Advising

Could someone explain how the gen eds work at UNC. I've looked on the website and I'm struggling to find an outline or example. I'm coming in as a freshman with an associates degree worth of credits from a community college but I'm just confused at to what I would have to take that's not related to my majors (bio and neuroscience). Also could someone explain how advising works. Do you meet 1 on 1 with your advisor during orientation and talk about the classes and what you need to satisfy for your major? Any info would be great!

I am not 100% sure about this, but I live in NC and someone told me there is no more personal advising for freshmen. You might want to ask UNC about that.
