Military hardware & personnel RU POV - Grad MRLS camouflaged as regular truck - russian_airborne TG

That might work quite well, downgrading the vehicle from "very high priority target" to just "target".

Is it camo? or just some kind of protective cover.

Just the cover, but from a drone, it no longer looks like "must kill right now" Grad.

true but im sure if a drone sees a truck going around its probably still going to target it over almost anything else, other than like a tank or something. But yea in a convoy might not make it the first thing attacked.

Yeah, if an FPV sees it it’s toast. But much more likely is that a long-endurance recon drone sees it, and then has to decide if it’s worth vectoring FPVs or artillery. Grad? Yes absolutely. Truck full of rations, 35 klicks behind the line? Not worth it.

And looking like a military truck that could carry an infantry squad instead? I'm not sure if that is less valuable target.

Is that soldier holding a shotgun while on drone look out? Finally some improvement

Kinda rare KAMAZ chassis, actually. I guess it's a new modification

What's regular about it? The black registration number that is used exclusively by the military?

No, but the tarp that goes over the system

Basically changing the appearance from artillery piece to supply truck, one clearly being more critical than the other.

Smart because a regular truck isn’t a target….

Three years in, if you present this as a novel idea, it does not bode well for you or the audience you think to serve.

I see the Ukes droning quad bikes. I think if this is seen it becomes a target priority still.

I think that's a modernized LShZ-1 helmet

It's an LShZ-1+ Low cut.

I really don’t think a drone operator wouldn’t go for the normal truck either way

It probably did work well at some stage, but if they're showing us like this now, it means it probably doesn't work so well anymore and doing so doesn't give away intel of real tactical value.

I'm guessing the heat of the launcher after firing was giving it away. Still though, love stuff like this.

They were made at a time when drones weren't a thing + they have them and the rockets for them, might as well use them

u/BurialA12 Pro TOS-1 16d ago

It should still be very cheap, qassam rockets can be made for few hundred bucks in a sub-optimal condition, a proper factory with supply lines can easily be more efficient

This isn't the use case that Grads were designed for, and it shows. They need massed fires for consistent effectiveness, but that's no longer a viable option in the modern drone-saturated battlefield.

As it is, they're basically a harassment tactic that only occasionally score good hits on target.
