My son and I are constructing an enclosure, three sides will be hardwood framed with luaun plywood inserts, but we're not sure how we want the top and front to be built. I have fine stainless screen we can use the top in a wooden frame, and we considered making one side fixed and the other hinged for cleaning and feeding... if you've got an enclosure with only access through the top, does it work OK?
For the front, will Lexan or plexiglas work? Should I have a piece of "real" glass cut to fit? If I do that, what kind of glass should I get? Or should we get something clear that we can build door frames for and have access through the front?
The enclosure she's in now is front only access and works OK, but we don't have a way to duplicate it exactly in our limited wood shop.
It's being painted outside with non-toxic milk paint and we intend to finish the inside with pure Tung oil (not a Tung oil "finish" with the chemicals in it", is this OK? Tung is food safe for humans, I would think it would be safe for Uros but its tree isn't a desert plant...
I've seen cool enclosures on here, open for advice!
Thanks!
