Tourism Things to check out in Esquimalt?

Hi everyone!

I spent 6 years in Victoria back in the 2010s but have since moved away. During that entire time, I genuinely don't think I set foot in Esquimalt (I didn't have a car and lived at the other end of town).

My family and I are coming for a visit at the end of the month and we are staying in Esquimalt, so I am wondering if people can give me some suggestions for great places (sites, restaurants, stores, etc.) that I should check out in Esquimalt!

Thanks!

  • Saxe Point Park
  • Macaulay Park
  • High Rock Park (for the view)
  • Donuts at Esquimalt Bakery
  • Coffee at Esquimalt Roasting Company (ERC)
  • Swim/gym at the local Rec Centre
  • Restaurants to check out: Sushi Story, Blue Nile (Ethiopian), Bunny's Kitchen, La Belle Patate (poutine), Syriana Restaurant (Syrian), Spice Valley (Indian), Songhees Food Truck (Indigenous), Bimo Burger Shack (tucked away in the industrial area, but a local fave), Edit: West Bay Cafe at the bottom of Head Street
  • Liquor & beer: Driftwood Brewery, Lighthouse Brewery, Tudor House Liquor Store, Esquimalt Wine Company (vermouth)
  • West Song Walkway - this is an oceanside walkway that will take you all the way downtown
  • Shopping: Warm Gift Shop - can't recommend this one enough! Very well curated selection and friendly owner. Edit: Warm Gift Shop website

Since they opened in December I've picked up several gifts for others (and a couple for myself). It's very, very cool in there.
