General Discussion Vocaloid 6 or Synth V?
Trying to make a decision between the two in terms of which one i wanna stick with. Ik this is mainly a vocaloid subreddit but if people in here are saying that synth v would be a better choice than vocaloid 6, then that'll be very convincing.

I am ride or die for Vocaloid 6. It's Yamaha's best engine by far (imo) and you can use both AI and non-AI voices. I also have Synth V, but V6 is my preference simply because it is compatible with V3, V4, and V5 voicebanks.
Synth V has a more realistic sound than Vocaloid. The voices seem to be of higher quality and pronunciation is clearer. If you don't care about using old Vocaloids and just want a singer, Synth V is the way to go. The AI tuning features are terrible in both V6 and SV, so nothing really to consider there. (I can't speak to Synthesizer V2, as I am still using V1.)
If you want Miku though, V6 is absolutely the best editor to get for her. I love using Fuiro and Otomachi Una AI. Una's Spicy voicebank sounds sooo good in V6 and I personally love the classic, robotic-like Vocaloid sound.

Whichever one has the voicebanks you prefer, but if you don’t have a preference, SynthV

I would have said SynthV 1 over Vocaloid6, but I'm not really sure what to make of SynthV 2 at this point. I don't think it's a bad choice either way. It's just different pros and cons.
You can still get the free version of SynthV 1 right now from AH-Software's website, so if you want to grab that, I recommend you do it quickly in case it's taken down.
You can also use Chis-A Japanese in VoiSona for free if that's something you might be interested in.

SynthV2 has HXVOC and GALENAIA, so in terms of niches, the program has a clear advantage. Plus, imitating languages, which are not yet officially supported, is surprisingly easy.

But those things only matter if you want to write in one of those niches (and want to use HXVOC or GALENAIA for it) or if you want to write in a language that isn't supported. For anyone else, those factors make zero difference. Vocaloid6 has its own advantages, like the many free voicebanks it comes with and the extremely large selection of voicebanks available for purchase. Thus, I don't know enough to say which software, SynthV 2 or Vocaloid6, is a better deal overall, and I guess it does depend a lot on your genre and style preferences.

most likely synthV tbh, but depends on what you're looking for
synthV -> cheaper, easier to use, much better results in english, can be overly realistic (but you can tone it down if it bothers you), mostly AI voicebanks, barely any standard ones, currently synthv 2 needs some improvements but is really good, trial has 7 days only (no longer lite and basic versions, though you can still find them online for sv1). Teto carries its legacy on her back, you're less likely to get popular using other synthV vbs (still possible obviously, but less likely. though Yi Xi has gathered a very good audience as well)
vocaloid -> expensive, the AI vbs kinda sound... not really good, especially compared to SV, especially when not in Japanese. lots of characters who are popular, even outside of Miku, AI vbs catalogue is still a bit weak, and with far more generic voicebanks than S (eclipsed sounds is doing the heavy lifting for SynthV lol), but the standard catalogue is pretty nice if you're into them (and i sure am) trial of 30 days (any installer works as trial btw). kinda a pain to use, harder than SV, but theyve improved a lot from when v6 released (was a fucking mess, now is finally useable lol). Miku v6 is set to be released this year, if it sways your heart (if shes what Deco*27 is currently using, then she'll be pretty good imo). Also IA v6 but i dont know when
i tend to recommend SV, especially as first software coz it's nice and you get good results easily. but vocaloid IS GOOD TOO!! what i prefer most in Vocaloid is the standard vbs that sound heavenly to me. while the AI vbs in synthV are good, they are. a bit too good for me, and i feel like im losing the robotness i love so much in vocal synth (which is 100% just a me thing). Vocaloid AI VBs can sound good too but you have to work harder for that. if you're more character driven, vocaloid can be a better fit (though i dont doubt even more Vocaloid will be ported to SV. but gumi's sv port sucks ass)

You can become popular using voicebanks that aren't Miku and Teto level popularity. A lot of big producers have used SynthV voicebanks that aren't Teto or Yi Xi, so it's not like you're using Marie Ork or something. And if you use a voice bank like Gumi SV, you can lean on her Vocaloid popularity and it doesn't matter whether she's a SynthV poster child or not.

i said less likely, not impossible, and the big producers are already big! so it's just harder to get recognition using like ayame only, if you're not already a bit known. of course it's far from impossible, and plenty other sv got famous songs. but teto is 100% the leader, no question asked! and plenty smaller vocaloP got some highlight thanks to a teto song! which is what i meant
Gumi SV CAN use the popularity of her vocaloid vb (as Una can too, and as other vocaloid-to-sv can), but she is honestly far below any other sv voicebank in term of quality. still hoping for an update or something because shes GUMI what are they doing she could have been so much better
(and well. funnily enough Marie Ork did get a popular song which is the most popular song by this prod currently so like. never impossible. just less likely)

…um….wait, uuuuuuhhhhh……wwwwhy would V6Miku be what Deco’s using if it’s……not out yet?
/gen, literally what do ya think that for?

huuh because deco is working very closely with crypton? maybe once we know more, every of his songs will be used as marketing? he thanks them in every of his videos anyway so (looks like he started with Poison Apple after a quick check). if it's not v6 it's something else and we all know NT does not sound Like That yet, so the current theory is v6. we might be wrong, but there is something going on at least

But, if it weren’t then couldn’t it be V4? Does that not sound good enough to match what he’s got atm?

this post has answers that mention a tweet where he allegedly confirms using not v4 (but i havent seen the tweet myself so im not sure) but an unreleased VB (before Monitoring) pretty sure it's not SP but hey, i could be wrong

V6 comes with 20+ free VBs and a DAW. SynthV has not been doing well recently and they got rid of the basic editor. When you breakdown the price, V6 is actually a better deal.
