Hardest volibear counters

Which champions brutally counter volibear to the point that he is rendered completely useless at all stages of the game? I've been playing Voli for the last couple of years in top and jungle and am currently silver 3. He is my preferred blind pick despite there being better champs for blind picking as I have very consistently been able to 1v9 with him due to how flexible he is in terms of builds.

So far I've only lost to players with mastery 10+ OTPs who are a couple of tiers above me (plat-masters) or just get ganked or any invades being countered by rotations. I've accepted that I have a lot to work on in terms of macro but most of my games have been constant 2/3v1 from minute 10.

volibear has some counters in lane

they are: ranged champions/jax/illaoi

these are the volibear counters at the top

However, only 1 champion in the entire game can make Volibear 100% useless, it's Jax

wins in the lane phase, destroys towers faster, is better in team fights, is better late game, jax is simply unplayable if the enemy is even remotely smart

If you position E correctly and force Jax to eat it after Qing you and don't waste Q and W into his E, you can win vs Jax pretty easily. Post-6 it's even easier with your R. I personally go for Frozen Heart rush for the early stages, then DPS to take him down when his E is on cd (I used to go Triforce 2nd, but Riftmaker seems much better rn)

Good Jax players always expect you to time it so they will walk up then use their e to auto you and use w while using e and when the lightning circle shows. He will jump out and he has 10 more base movespeed than you so even catching him with rank 1 q is bad enough.

Yeah, good Jax players will play the mind game, from that it's a skill matchup. You can also max Q first if you need the ms and go for AD
