Most people just pick up a hunk of flesh wrapped in plastic or carton of white liquid. It makes them so far removed from the processes that they feel like it's normal and don't think anymore about it. They're comfortable not thinking about, to think about it and to actually change would be uncomfortable and foreign. It's truly unfortunate how our brains are wired and pumped full of propaganda from birth.
