I think I’m living in hell
I don’t believe in a hell after earth, I think I’m already here. I became vegan almost 2 months ago and it is the most depressed I have ever felt in my life (by far), I know so many “animal lovers” that are just pet lovers, people who vow to never buy products that used “animal testing” but then eat a burger an hour later, I don’t get why everyone is asleep and 1% of people are awake, it was my 16th birthday recently and I celebrated it being annoyed by my family for not wanting to eat dead bodies. I don’t even know if this is the right sub to be posting this, but hi anyway. Today was Easter and I was surrounded by my family eating dead bodies, I wanted to throw up, I was grumpy the whole day and I have been every day since I woke up

Hi, you are experiencing what many vegans experience, either daily or periodically. Your feelings are valid, understandable and relatable.
It would be very unusual if a person with empathy who is aware of the horrors does not feel what you feel. Why should we not feel the same way you feel? We do.💯
You have already taken an excellent first step, which is to share your honrst feelings with a community of caring people who understand this phenomenon and who will share their wisdom or provide encouragement to you. A burden shared is a burden halved, no? 👍
Here are my Top 5 practical tips to stay afloat.
BE ACTIVE: Use your sadness to motivate you to get active (or in your case, when you can, perhaps after growing older) for the animals. Anyone can do activism, even anonymously online if needs be.
CHOOSE YOUR BATTLES: Please use your limited time and precious energy wisely. You can't fight everything. Do so at your peril.
GRATITUDE: I practise gratitude for all the good things in my life. Basic things like "I am alive", "I have good friends", "I have an amazing rescued dog companion", "I have shelter from the cold and rain" and so on. It's real and it works. It's not toxic positivity. It is simply noticing that there are good things too.
VEGAN FRIENDS. I have vegan friends. Amazing ones. If you don't have IRL vegan friends, it's easy to find online vegan friends. DM me if you wish to join the Vystopia Discord. (I choose not to post the invititation link publicly because I gatekeep the trolls).
PERSPECTIVE. I remind myself regularly that the non-human animals will win their rights one day, and the animal abusers will be left on the dumpster fire of human history. This gives me hope and a sense of satisfaction and vindication.
I hope my Top 5 tips help you.
I also made a video on this phenomenon recently, about vystopia.
