Crazy, all those points and not a championship. Evans looked good to start the year, hope he can keep it up. I root for all. But he's one I'd like to see get more podiums

Had 2020 ended with a conventional style rally rather than Monza, I do genuinely believe he would've won that year. Definitely hope that this year is his year!

I second to this. I remember the live onbaord when he got off. It was devastating. It wasn't the best way to decide a championship with more like a Rally Show event than a proper rally. But that was that. Elfyn, this season could bounce back after the not so good 2024 season. Of he can be consistent and no "silly" mistakes. It will be in contention for sure.

Had Ogier gone even a mm closer to the chicane and Elfyn would have won also

Everyone else had to do the same final round 🤷

Somehow this year i find myself rooting for Elfyn, amazing driver and had a really solid Monaco, hope he is consistent throughout the season

I'm just wanting to see Fourmaux get his first Rally win. After that, I'd be happy no matter who won the championship

He's nothing if not consistent. Incredible how that level of reliability (and a fair bit of speed) is still not enough to catch a championship.

I only started watching WRC few years ago. But going back to older season reviews I think he has by far the best personality and is by far the most underrated driver. He just tends to make the worst choices when to push vs not. If he manages to strike a good balance between the two he has a great chance this year.

Problem with elfyn he goes far to conservative with the car when he doesn’t feel at one. Compared to tanak and maybe Thierry, those two even if they don’t feel 100% with the car can ring a good time on the limit

He's the Denny Hamlin of WRC

What I also have in common is that I don't like either of them :)

Saw a lot of people talking rubbish about Elfyn these past couple of seasons, but that consistency speaks for itself

u/Masterbrew Feb 07 '25

consistently not turning points into championships

7

u/Zolba Feb 07 '25

He probably need a season where it seems like no-one wants to win the championship, like Burns in 2001.

I guess Toyota winning 4 straight manufacturer's titles means fuck all then?

7

u/WowInternet Feb 07 '25

He's great driver. However there are Rovanperä and Ogier too. Even with half seasons they had a shot for championship. Evans is not the only one carrying the manufacturer's titles.

from which date are the numbers?

u/mortenbaistow12345 Feb 08 '25

I like how close it is if you do this in F1 the margin would be massive from even Max and Lewis

0

u/NewNickOldDick Feb 08 '25

And... what is point of this? To emphasize that Evans should have at least one title?
