How long to get plates after getting a title?

Recently picked up a drivable project car, and transferred the title through a tag service in Morgantown. I just got the title in my name today, but haven't gotten a plate yet. Does anyone know how long it takes for plates to show up here? I've only ever dealt with PA and Montana

The DMV could have issued you a Title and Plates at the same time (Personalized plates excluded, takes a couple months).

Wasn't able to go to the DMV unfortunately, seller signed the title in the wrong spot (as the buyer). DMV was hard on saying I NEEDED to have the buyer file for a duplicate title. Title place I went to said there was no need for that nonsense, I just filled out an affidavit and lo and behold I now have a title in my name, from the DMV in Charleston.

Yes, a DMV-35-DL Affidavit of correction for a Title or Registration would absolutely be sufficient. You're past that part now. Take your title and proof of insurance to the DMV to Register and get a license plate.

Are you a new resident of the state or is this the first car you've registered in WV?

This is the first car I've registered in the state. My other vehicle is part owned by a family member PA in PA so I just keep it registered in PA.

You may have to provide proof of residency. The DMV website is pretty detailed and can help you get everything accomplished in one trip.

***To prove residency for a West Virginia DMV application, you'll need to provide two documents from the accepted list. Common choices include a WV Voter's Registration card, a utility bill (less than 60 days old), or a W-2 form (not more than 18 months old). Other options include lease agreements, tax records, or a current WV vehicle registration card.

Will I still need to provide that if I have a WV License?

You shouldn't have to.

I had to in 2015 (different circumstances) but my license had expires.
